Question Having trouble selling my car

I don't know if it's because Canadians just aren't used to the bodystyle (although they should be considering the Kia Soul and Nissan Cube have been around for a while)
I'm asking a fair price for it, it's in the same price range as all the other ones that are posted up
I take care of the thing like nuts, and I got to get it up on a hoist pretty much weekly to make sure everything is still good because I'm taking mechanics.
What am I doing wrong? If anything

I feel ya, man. I'm trying to sell mine right now (in FL) bc i'm about to travel abroad for a year. I listed it at the kbb private party sale price. it's an '05, has 40k miles, nothing wrong at all, new tires, etc etc. only a couple sniffs. recently, i took it to carmax out of curiosity.. they offered 7k for it. BS!!

A much better idea to keep, maybe get the insurance switched to someone else while you're away?

spot on. i've considered it bc i really like my car. i could let my dad drive it even though his car works just fine. but at the same time i think of the possibilities of what i could do w/ the money. if i come back from my trip in a year or two and decide i want something different, the increased age of the car just reduces its trade-in or resale value.

I've driven quite a few cars now, and all it does is make me want to drive my box more.
I don't even like riding in other people's cars. I'm addicted I guess.

what did you expect? that is a fair offer.....the problem is some people here have inflated ideas of what the Xb is worth based on the resale value they used to have

They were only holding resale for so long. Now the bottom is dropping out.
It's ok for me tho cause I want to get my wife a box in a few years and they should be below 5K by then.

That doesn't mean the other ones are priced fair.

Where are you trying to sell it?

I would think in Canada they would still demand high prices seeing how few are actually there in the first place.

I didn't mean location, I meant through what services.

Buysell and craigslist
I'm going to get a for sale sign when I can find a dollar store that has one

Used car prices are soft right now with new cars being discounted and incentivized like crazy.

Also, the car buying public has the memory/attention span of an eight year old on cola and twinkies. No one remembers $4+ fuel prices.

Put it up on eBay, it's free. And is Autotrader in Canada? If it is, it's worth the money to get an ad through them. I sold my tC on Autotrader, and the buyer found the car on Edmunds.

i think its the way things are right now,no one wants to dish out that kinda of cash,,ive been trying to get rid of mine aswell tryed the craigslist maybe we should try ebay.im looking to put the cash toward a house and buy me a old awd subaru because im trying to move out were it snow's and need a car that will get me around all year round..the box is awesome but not pratical in the snow..i drove a 200 dodge ram and getting 10 mpg sucked but can not really do much with all the snow.so what is a fair price?i was thinking 10k for mine the way it sits..last time i got offered like 7 for a trade in thats how i came up with my amount

Wow. No one is biting on a camo xB? That was the best color. Opinion only, of course. xB's seem to fly off the lots here in NC. Any used lots do consignment sales near y'all? Might have to bump the price a bit to cover the fees, but it gets more exposure. I sold my Harley that way and made out.

I had it up for 12,900 because that seemed to be the average of the prices other people have them up for
But I've lowered it to 9,500 because that seems to be a reasonable price in my opinion.

resale value isnt all that good here in canada. now that scion is coming in sept. but i would imagine the 1st gen xb's are still worth somthing. only becuz there 1st gen.

ill try to find out the resale value through work. good thing is i work the biggest toyota dealer here in canada and when i was to buy mine they wanted 34g's for two of them and 28g's for another base model.
rip off. but thats why i went elsewhere.
