No red reflector, so they're illegal. I think they might give you one separate though.

My guess would be NO since there isn't any red reflector. Without the reflector they aren't DOT compliant.
If you have access to a set, you can look at the lens and somewhere along the edge, it will say DOT blah blah blah if it's legal. No DOT blah blah blah = not legal.

edit:
BUT, what you might want to do is talk to the DMV or whoever is incharge of the rules/laws (vehicle inspection maybe :? ) and see if you added a suplemental reflector, like the ones on the new mazda 6, if that would make you legal.
just a thought

Why are TYC lights DOT if they have no reflector?

If they're DOT, they have to have a reflector.

Does anybody have a big pic of the TYCs?

I don't think they need a reflector. They have a red lense. You can see a pic in the Store under Exterior --> Lighting.

Default Helix TailLights

I put them on about a month ago. They do furnish two 1"x2" red reflectors. I guess they thought I would stick them on my....bumper?

If anyone buys them...PM me right away. They do not go right on. They require modification of the seal before trying. I found out a little late I stripped one of the mounting studs believing they knew more than I did.

Once I get it out of the body shop, I will post pics with the upgraded LED bulbs bouncing through those beautiful disco ***** mounted on my ___.

All cars have to have a red reflector on the rear of the car. Doesn't matter if its in the tail ight or on the bumper, but the whole thing would have to be DOT approved regardless. Which is why even if you added a red reflector to your bumper, you could still get a ticket although you car would theroretically be adhering to regulation.

The TYC lights do have a reflector. Its in the middle of the circular red lens.

For clarification, the reflector is so oncoming cars can see your car if it's parked at night.

I know, you're talking about the totally clear ones. No, they are not legal. I was posting the TYC ones to show that they do have a red reflector, which makes them legal.

Default Illegal in Pennsylvania

I checked with my local inspection station and showed them a color picture of the smoked lense, they are not permitted in this state. Requirements are that they need to have the color red in the lens, they need to be reflective at night as stated above, oncoming traffic needs to see the red reflective lens in order to be aware of a vehicle parked and such. Also during daylight hours the red acts as a reflector as well.

Despite a red bull which is useless, these boys are illegal !

How can those Helix taillites be illegal when the RX-330 has clear taillites similar tot he Helix style? If all you need i a red reflector, why not order the ones form the RX-330 and integrate them into your car.

How about bluebatmobiles red-out vinyl tailight covers, although they are quite red, do they actually reflect?

I don't know the laws but I would think that you may be able to run the helix lights as long as you also have red reflectors on the back of the vehicle. I am assuming that is why the RX 330 is legal.

Now you will probably be ticketed if you run the helix lights even though you are also running reflectors because the helix lights do not have a DOT approval. But, at the same time you might be able to contest it in court, and win, by proving that you have reflectors. Just make sure you have a good lawyer.
If you do want to gamble and run helix lights, make sure you have HIGH QUALITY, properly colored bulbs. No red ones that turn pink in a few weeks. And no standard clear bulbs for turnsignals, only amber or red.

Ultimately, if you want to run the helix lights, do so AT YOUR OWN RISK. As stated before, they are not DOT compliant. PERIOD.
