Default HELP - Error Lights (VSC/Trac Off/Check Engine)

I had to drive back from PGH to Hanover last night, and when I stopped at the gas station to get a drink and turned the XB back on, these dummy lights came on.

Anyone know what is happening or what might be wrong ?

Thanks

Would you be able to provide a little more info; like recent modifications, actions that led up to the stop, or anything else. I can't think of anything so far.

Wild guess: Your car is possessed.

You didn't tighten you gas cap enough, I know it sounds crazy but if you reset you ecu and tighten your gas cap your cel will go away.

5:33 PM UPDATE

They are going to keep the car over the weekend, the error lights and code as indicated above tells them it is a CAM SENSOR !

They are going to dig deeper to find the problem and cause of it .....

I do not like the sound of it .......

Here's with you!

Before you authorize any repairs, have you considered having the ECU reset and hoping for the best? If there's really a problem, your warning lights ought to re-appear, no?

Any word from the wise about this approach?

But this should be covered under warranty. It doesn't sound like anything you would've done to the car. Hopefully they shouldn't charge you for anything.

Check your vacuum sensor on the side of your intake. It may have come loose during the drive. The last intake I put in I accidently reversed the two hoses on that sensor and the same lights came on. reversed it back and everything was fine. G/L.

Hopefully they gave you a loaner car--it is part of the warranty. There are MANY posts on this problem--do a search. The gas cap CAN be one of the reasons but not the only one. My problem was solved with a new alternator. There is also a post in the tech section on resetting the ECU. Good Luck..........

The car is bone stock ........

Yes, it is under full warranty and my dealership is awesome .... This is the 3rd car in 2 years we bought from them and they are without a doubt excellent and will cover anything under warranty ....

Will keep you posted when they call on Monday .....

Default Results Are In !

The Error Code is ( P0012 ) - They could not replicate the error, drove it for several miles after resetting the error lights and it did not reappear !

So, nothing was changed, system is supposed to be working fine as it states on invoice.

Thanks for everyones insight !

This site never fails to impress. Paniced when the lights came on. Read the manual telling me to get to the dealer...Aw crap!

Knew when I got home to check here first and, BINGO!

I got gas two days ago and after filling the car's tank I had to fill a 5 gallon jug for the lawn tractor. Placed the jug in the back, closed the back hatch, jumped in and drove off. Next morning I noticed the gas door was opended a crack so I just shut it not thinking to look in and make sure the gas cap was on.

Got home tonight, saw it could be the gas cap, opened the gas door and there's the cap sitting in the great Honda RAV-4 gas cap holder I have on the inside of the gas door!

Replaced the cap, pulled the EFI fuse per the instructions in the thread mentioned above and no more lights.

And to think I was going to stop my $10 month donation to scionlife.com...........

question...

I might send in my xB to the dealership to check why my lights are on. I do have a Injen Shortram intake on. If you saw my other reply to the other threads similar to this, I might also have a ABS problem (the clicking sound you all hear before you get in motion is gone).

I did the gas cap deal. Nothing.

I also checked the MAF sensor... its kind of dirty. Like, there's gray sut over it, Im thinking, this is normal??

Hit me back with a reply please!!! :D

Once they see the Injen you are screwed. Can you put the stock air box back on for the checkup??
