Default hit with a padlock update**pics

so yup i was looking at houses today with my mom and we were driving in a pretty nice neighborhood and while driving some guy runs through a backyard screaming at me to f'en stop...
me with my mom with nothing to defend myself im not going to stop so as were leaving the neighborhood we pass this guys house again who again yells stop mother f'er.. so he runs up to the road and threw a padlock trying to hit me but missed and hit the driver and rear driver door putting a slight hole in the rear door..
at this point im beyond ____ed so i slam on my breaks open the door he runs out to the street picks up what he threw and runs into his house. my mom called the police and they were there in minutes and agreed that i should not have stopped for some crazzy guy screaming at us for no reason..
he said that he noticed a suspicious vehicle and tried to get us to stop to see what we were doing but unless im carrying my bat or something to defend myself
and this is why im here id like to get door skins for my car i do not want any bondo or crappy repairs done to my car that i take care of so well

does anybody know where i can get the skins i know someone that will pop the welds and install the new skins but he does not know where to get them
thanks all

if someone will tell me again how to post pics i have some of the damage [/url]

You might be better off just looking for a new door. The guy who hit your car should be responsible for the damage. Make him buy you a new door and paint. Was a police report filed?

Upload your pics to photobucket and copy the [img][/img] code here.

so it's pretty safe to say you wont be moving into that neighborhood?
and honestly, its none of his business what you were doing driving in his neighborhood.. he should have called the fuzz himself if he thought you were "suspicious", rather then commiting assault and vandalism...
as suggested, just get a whole new door, and paint...

He's paying for the damages, yes?
Pretty much any good body shop can re-skin the door if you specifically request that in the quote that you'll hand over to Mr Crazy's insurance co.

Definitely get a lawyer, just in case... was a police report filed? That's all you really need to ensure you get your money.

Your case would be a civil suit due to property damage. As long as the guy agrees to pay for the damages done, court fees and time involved would be paid for and nothing else. The only repairs he would be required to perform is to return the car to the original visual appearance (bondo allowing) and provide to you a rental or loaner vehicle while your car is in the shop. Take your car to the best possible body shops in the area and get price quotes for the repairs needed. Then get an esitmate of the time involved and apply that to a price quote on a rental. Tack on the cost of your lawyer and court expenses, then request an amount for the time you have been involved in the situation equal to the hourly wages of your job. I would estimate you have at least two hours involved with the police, at least three hours of research time involved, and then the time spent tracking down body shops and car rental expenses. It would be roughly 40 hours when it's all said and done. What I would make sure to do is file a letter of intent through some legal counsil... won't cost you but maybe $150 - 200 depending on the lawyer. One last thing you need to have, an eye witness from the scene who was not involved in the incident (ie, your mom won't count).

So there you go, free legal advice and information on how to win your case hands down... with a little extra.

BTW - Punctuation is your friend... please use it so more people can understand the issue. I'm not saying psychotic absolute proper engrish... just some stuff to get the meaning across better is all.

something like this happened to me a couple of weeks ago. i was in a small neighborhood and had just dropped off a delivery and i am driving in first gear going real slow and the rpms were at 3 grand and i was coming around a corner and some guy and his wife were pulling in their driveway so i let off of the gas and let the engine slow the car and it was pretty loud due to the echoing of my exhaust in the small townhouse comunity. i hear the man yell slow the ____ down.. and im just thinking to myself.. what a dumbass i was going like 10 mph. (just because its loud doesnt mean it was going fast) so i give him a stare as i drive past. then i hear something hit the ground near my car and i look in the mirror and see a coke bottle sliding on the ground and the guy standing in the street.. so i rip the e brake and smash on the brakes as hard as possible (purposely, just to be dramatic.) and i get out of the car with a big wrench in my hand, and yell "do you have a ____ing problem" at that point he literally spedwalked into his house.

some people are just pure jerks..

Be glad it was only a padlock. I remember Columbus having that dude that was shooting up vehicles as they drove by a few years ago.

Should have shoved that padlock down his throat. But that's just me.
