Default Horn Upgrade

I've read all the horn threads for the Xb Most people use the Hella horn is this correct?
I want to upgrade from a beep to a HONK. Needs to be pretty simple to install without taking off the whole front end. Any help and suggestions on horn/mounting would be grateful.

Thanks in advance.

to easily get access to the stock horn(s) wiring you will need to take the bumper off. relax as it's a very easy procedure.

I have the dual Hella setup and it is way better than stock.

Once you take the bumper cover off a couple of times it'll take you about 5 minutes.

I wired mine by removing the horn relay from its box and plugging into those connectors with mine, replacing the relay with my own and wiring straight to the battery (through a fuse, of course) for a lot of current to the Stebel set. I also left the stock horns in place, so it makes a UNIQUE sound that I L_I_K_E!!!

Just to clarify, I plugged spade connectors into where the stock relay was and ran those connections to an externally mounted relay. That way I didn't have to get access to the stock horns, only to the box that the horn relay is in. Clear? I hope so . . . .

Unless you are going to splice and add horns, you'll have to take the front off to get to the wires you need. Not a big deal. Look at the tech and it's a piece of cake.

Check my profile for my upgrade. LOL

to be honest, the real loud horns are the worst, especially when overused (like it is here) you can also get pulled over and given a ticket for them (the cops usually get you on noise pollution). Plus the purpose of a loud horn is to be noticed when someone is doing something stupid... somehow, an ooga horn, would catch your attention just as much as a loud horn (until you pass the guy who is trying to measure on the Richter scale with his bass) but of course this is only my odd $0.02

Edit: P.S. happy birthday hotlava

Unfortunately, you're right. Horns are *supposed* to be saying, "I'm here -- look out!", ideally anyway. How they're usually used (and interpreted as) is to say"You're an @$$HOLE you %$#@ing *%@#!!!" and just pi$$ other drivers off.

I do have LOUD horns on all my vehicles, but I try to use them seldom and politely with short toots and count on the loud part to get through all the other noise. (I've put squeeze bulb horns for hailing pedestrians on my motorcycles after scaring one cow-order out of his sox with one motorcycle's Fiamm air horns ;^)

^^^ hornblasters rocks but, in my case, i wanted most bang for least buck. i bought 2 sets of the hellas before i heard about the other 139db stebel alternative from pooder.

regardless, the dual hellas rock and for only $120 for the set of two, it didn't break the bank.

plus, i think they look mean as hell just sittin there under the hood....

oh and those ooga horns/super loud ones are just outrageous and soooo not needed. i swear i feel organs wanting to release themselves from my body when someone wails on one of those. it just hurts to hear.
