How bad do you "spoil" your box?
While I was giving my box a bath this morning, I started thinking about how much I spoil my box and how OC I have become about it more than any other car I have owned in the past, so I thought this might wind up being a humorous thread, hearing other folks stories. I figure Ill start it out
Besides my mods and Its still a work in progress.....
I hand wash exterior once a week, dress tires, bug remover, scratch & scuff repair etc
Every two weeks is exterior and interior complete with the "New Car Air Freshener"
Every six weeks its dropped off at the "Atlanta Auto Spa" (right next door to where I work, they know me by name, I dont even have to tell them what to do any more) for a full day spa treatment, Hand wash, Wax, Light Detailing,
Religious Oil Change @ 5000 miles
Never go over 4000 RPM
Gave it a name "Boxzila" and refer to it as such when discussing with others
I guess thats a good beginning, Ive only had mine since May
But I just want the "Envy Green" to remain looking envious
I think I need to start a new club and Chapter called "Boxaholics Anonymous"
Step 1
I am powerless over my box, and my desire to maintain it has become unmanageable

....Been Boxed for 18 months....
I'll sign up for that 12 step program.
I now have more front grills than suits.
More hubcaps than pants.
I do the hand wash thing almost every week.
I will change out my oil and filter every 5,000.
MT-90 Tranny fluid every 33,000 miles.
I used to have a life, now I don't even want one.

Wash- when it gets dusty.
Wax- bi-weekly
Covered while not in use in my steel garage.
Don't Smoke in it. (still smells NEW after 2 years)
Only park in Handicap spots (nice and wide spots) seldom let it outta my sight.
If it's raining I take a different vehicle.
Use a Colgan bra to keep rock chips to a minumum. Driving the box has changed the way I drive now. No more tailgating for me in any of my vehicles.
Naaaaa, it's not babied at all....

Since getting the box in Febreruary, My saturday mornings have consisted of pretty much the same routine: Hand wash & dry (including jambs), interior vacuum, and a wipe down with Armor - All cleaning wipes. I also hand wax it once a month. I also rarely ever touch any of the windows, as to avoid fingerprints.

Well this is my 2nd box and I think I actually got worse....if that is possible.....whenever I can which in the summer is very often.....I wash my car inside, out, under the hood, jambs, and under the car as far as I can reach, the wheel wells ans springs and struts..........I am super obsessive when it comes to the cleanliness of my box.......I usually vaccum once a day and wipe it down every other day ....When I wash it ,it usually takes me an average of 3 to 4 hours minus a wax job(that's a whole day process) There is definately something wrong with me

LOL!!!
Compared to what you guys do with/to your boxes, I probably seem like an abusive father! hahahahhaa!
My list:
- Got my 06 white xB in Jan. 2006 - It now has about 5600 miles on it
- Got the oil changed at 3k miles
- From January until now, I've taken it to the car wash (never hand washed) about 3-4 times... White gets dirty so fast, I am under the 'why bother' mentality - if I clean it, it'll just get dirty again. I even write "clean me" or "CLEAN ME PLZ PPL K TX!" on the dirt on the rear tailgate! lol!
- Haven't even vaccummed the interior since I got it... so much crap everywhere...
- I'm afraid to admit this : haven't installed the air filter yet.... =X
- Best part is that, this friday, I am taking a 600 mile (back and forth) trip to New Hampshire/Maine! I think I will wash it when I get up to Maine. I will have about 40,000 dead bugs all over the nose when I get up there! not a pretty sight!
- I bought the full-faced colgan bra for $134 brand new and guess what? It scuffed my boxs' nose! The fender/wheel well on both the driver and passenger side is now scuffed and was caused by those fabric-covered "clips" that help hold the bra into place. I bought this to protect the nose of my box but it has done more damage than protection. I've been driving around for over 2+ months without this cover on and I have not gotten any scratches or dents/dings or anything like that. I wish I had saved that $134 for a mod that didn't f*ck up my car =(
Maybe I should be posting this on the "HOW BADLY DO YOU ABUSE YOUR BOX" thread - lol!
Please don't call Scion Protective Services and tell on me

WE CAN HELP YOU!!!!!!
Here at Boxaholics Anonymous the first thing you have to do is admit that you have a problem,
you have done that
Now the 1st thing you need to do is stay away from the car wash, 1 car wash is too many, 10 car washes are not enough It just gets worse from there, once you start it is really hard to stop
You need a meeting really bad!!!!!!!
OMG I knew this was going to get funny

i've had mine for over 19 months and i've never waxed it! i know i know my box is not waxed ..... but the people at the car wash place told me they didn't know what a BRAZILIAN WAXED BOX was supposed to look like? does anyone have any pictures i can show them? jk (please do NOT post)
anyways, i'm about to get it a big present, before the honeymoon (driving it 12 hours to the beach) i'm going to go get it detailed! i hate waxing (can you tell?) so i'm going to fork out the money to have someone else who doesn't hate doing it to do it.

Re: How bad do you "spoil" your box?
Maybe I'm a misfit in this group but I don't "spoil" my xB at all. I wash it when it's dirty, using gentle hand-washing techniques to keep from damaging its finish. I wax it in the fall before the snow flies. I use blankets to protect its interior when I'm hauling stuff in it. I ALWAYS do service when it's due, and I use the "severe service" recommendation 'cause commuting and hauling duty is often pretty severe. I don't consider any of those things spoiling my xB; I'm doing them so my xB will give the years and miles of enjoyable service it's capable of delivering. I do the same for ALL my vehicles . . . .

Hmm ....
Two buckets to hold all the car cleaning supplies.
Beat my gf when she slams my door or nicks the dash or spills something.
Ummm gf gets jealous because I take better care of my car then her.
Washed once a week (Gold Class), Waxed once a month (Gold Class), microfiber dry, clay bar, compound, polish etc.

I've had my Salsa Red Pearl for just over a week. So far:
it's been to the car wash for wash & wax (I have no facilities to wash myself) and
the interior has been vacuumed every other day.
The dash has been Armour-All'd with a vinyl dash cloth. (Well squeezed so as to not leave excessive protectant on the dash)
God forbid the sun screen not get put in the windshield on a sunny day!!!!!!
I had a complete meltdown when my poor 3 year old nephew started heading for the car with sticky hands.
Oh, did I forget to mention the preppy pearls around the license plate frame?
I might already be beyond help. My family thinks so.....

1. Knowing that this is my Box's first anniversary (today!) and wondering what I should buy/order for it. (I'm leaning towards Koni struts)
2. Having 3 California Car Dusters. One for the body, one for the wheels and one for the motor.
3. Dusting the body before going anywhere.
4. Losing 10lbs in the past year because of parking in such remote, no door ding locations.
5. Royal Purple oil changes every 5000 miles, or less.
6. Driven in rain 3 times.
7. Hurt passengers (usually my kids) that slam the doors.
8. On my third shift ****, and still not quite happy with that one.
9. Spending more on cleaners than I save on gas. O.K., I stole that one from Archngl, but it's true!
10 Not only do I have the Colgon Bra, I have tha matching mirror covers as well.
I think I have to do the 30 meetings in 30 days....
I've replaced one addiction with another!

First I thought, what a nut. But now I'm inspired!! I want some million dollar wax you apply with your hands!!
The only thing I disagre with was washing the car in direct sunlight.
