pop the cover off the hatch, remove the wiper arm, unbolt the wiper moter and pull it out. The hardest part is removing the clips that hold the hatch cover.

Dugzillaxb summed it up pretty easily. I just figured I'd throw in a little more detail that may help out.
On the wiper arm, where the arm elbows to the stem, you can pull outward on the plastic cover on the elbow to expose the nut that secures the arm to the stem. Remove it. After the nut is off, you can jiggle the arm until it pops loose, and then pull it off the stem. After the arm is removed from the outside, proceed to remove the inside cover clips. It is best if you use some sort of flat fork iron to avoid breaking the clips. I used a window crank handle removal tool that had a nice flat forked end on it. Remove the inside cover. Unbolt the bolts securing the wiper assembly inside the rear hatch. I believe there are 4, and they are 10mm. Unplug the power plug and remove the assembly. You will need something to plug the hole, which is approximately 1-1/16". You can pick up a 1" plastic or chrome plug from Loews.
I also used a 15/16" ID rubber grommet that I was able to stretch over the inner lip of the 1" plastic plug to secure it onto the inside of the rear hatch. To seal out any moisure, I made a small bead of silicone around the outer edge of the grommet inside the hatch. Reinstall the inner hatch cover and you're done.

Hey guys,

sorry to revive an old thread. But, I need some help here.

I have no idea what you guys mean by the fact that you can remove the wiper arm out easily after removing that nut holding the arm.

Mine just wouldn't budge at all. What method do you guys to use to "jiggle the arm until it pops loose"?

Let me know what I am missing.

You should be able to move the arm a little bit once the top nut is off. It will take some effort, but it should pop off without breaking anything. You will need to pull on it at the base to get it to pop off. I wouldn't recommend using anything to pry at it for fear that you might slip and scratch the paint. If you have any sort of puller tool, such as a gear or flywheel puller, you could try using that. Just be careful not to scratch anything. Once that is off, all you need to do is remove the rest of the assembly from inside the rear gate.

The front wipers on my xB were really, really tight, so I got one of these-

Worked great.

Mine came from ebay, an entirely different vendor, and you may be able to get one locally...

Mine was stuck like there is no tomorrow.

and I couldn't wait for that product (http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/otc4676.html) to be shipped...

so, I went to the Pepboys and got a clamp with triple faseting arms. it finally popped out on the first try.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Now I have to figure out what I am going to do wtih the hole there. I think i'm going to plug it with a key lock for now. Maybe a rear view camera mod will come later.

So I just did this mod, really easy it only took maybe 20 mins at the most, my wiper nut was loose already I think it was because of the sound system. But I made the stupid mistake of applying some silicone to my wiper cover, and then putting a layer of dynamat over it right after. It pushed some of the silicone to the outside, which I now have to peel off once it dries.

the hardest part is getting the clips out... use a fork or a clip tool from snap on if you have that access. the plug from lowes works great and its only $1.39. jiggle and pull

Does anyone have any pictures of the actual process? Pictures always help me out, hah. I want to put a rear camera in, but haven't ordered one yet. I think I'll just buy the filler at Lowes or HD and let it sit like that until payday.

If was really easy to remove. Just remember to remove the arm first. The rest is really straight forward and simple.
