Default How much did YOU pay for your XB?

I'm buying a brand new 08 in the next fee weeks, my problem will be convincing my parents about Scion's "true pricing", they will haggle me and say I'm getting ripped off paying the "sticker price". My question to all XB owners, what did YOU pay for your XB? I know that Scion dealers are suppose to follow the "true pricing" policy but THEY can set their own price accordingly. With this info at hand, I wanted to see what the majority of people payed for the 1st Generation Box.

All Scions are priced the same. What happens, is that dealers who are trying to increase their sales volume, add a certain number of extra features, such as a spoiler and bumper protector, before the cars are available for sale and force you to pay for the extras. Since there are usually not many dealers with the color and transmission you want, they can get away with this. The only thing that may differ on the base price of the car would be destination charges, tax, and license plate fees.

You pay the sticker generally--I got them to take off the $2000 rim package on mine and return to OEM tires. You might--a big might--get a break if they get the new box in and have some old ones left over. Tell your parents to go haggle for you and see how far they get. Would be worth a laugh..........

Dealer's can set their own prices. The deal is that every person that buys from that dealer pays the same price, comparatively.
And don't forget dealer "doc" fees.

As mentioned the base price is non-negotiable. But you can save money by only getting the options if any that you want. Also the dealer fee's can vary tremendously. I went to four different dealers, the dealer fee's were between five hundred and a thousand. Then I saw an advertisement by another dealer that said "no dealer fee's", I was skeptical but I checked it out and it was legit. So I bought it there and saved nice money. I got my 06.5 auto Xb out the door, tax, tags, etc, for 16,400.

Remember the 08 model is bigger and will cost about 1000-1500 more no matter where you buy it.

I bought my 05 xb with aloy wheels, spoiler, 6 CD changer with 23806 on the clock for $11, 500 this price includes title, tags, and tax. They originally wanted 12500 + tax and title but I said I would only pay 11500 and no penny over and that's what I got. I got a good deal on this and love da box!

Not quite. One dealer could have a base model selling for $14,830. Another dealer could have the same model, but he's seliing it at $15,200.
The point is that whatever the dealer sets his price at, he must sell all his cars at that price, not taking into account the options and fees.
The doc fees is where the dealer is going to make some money. Some state, like Cali I believe, set a cap. $45 IIRC. Other states, like GA for example, have no caps. Dealers around me charge anywhere from $299 to $599 for their doc fees, which take about 10 minutes per car to complete the paper work. Then they charge an extra $18 title fee. Their excuse is that it's also for delivery, and final inspection. However, according to Scion, that's what the Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee covers.

Pure Price only applies to new cars. Used, it's whatever they can get.

The prices are required (by Scion) to be posted in the dealership, so that everyone can see them. That's the basic rule of "Pure Pricing." Everyone pays the same price at that dealership. If there are multiple Scion dealerships in your area you might be able to do a little better at one or another with regards to doc fees and the like.

I paid about $17,100 because they gave me less than what my trade was worth. They gave me $9,500 on my trade and I owed $11,000. Only upgrade I got was the armrest. They said they would give me $10,000 for my trade if I took one of their silver boxes, but i wanted Polar White. So basically, they were giving me a $500 discount if I took one of their 4 silver boxes on the lot.

Dang you got a killer deal. Did you buy from private party or a dealership?

I got it from a 3rd party. He was selling it because he had an MR2 and couldn't decide which to sell. Truth be told, I came with half the cash in hand and it was a done deal..

clean title too.. but it did take a month to get the title from the title company and through Toyota, but it was worth it.
