Default How much is my 06 xB worth? If i were to sell it

I think it's time to move on, going to be selling soon. Mine is a 2006, with 58,000 miles. It is Polar White with the 5-speed manual transmission. Body is in good condition, minor chips in the bumpers since my daily work commute is all highway. Oil changes every 5k, new filters, new K&N air filter, 4 brand new kumho tires, and new NGK spark plugs. I've been getting consistent 32-33mpg with the new plugs by the way! I took care of this car well because it's the first car I've ever owned.. all my others have been leased. This one's actually mine so it was my pride and joy, lol.

I was rear ended back in 06. From that, I had the rear hatch replaced as well as the front and rear bumper replaced. Replaced with OEM toyota equipment and there is NO bodywork or bondo. The affected parts were replaced, not repaired. Nothing was out of line or anything like that...just a new bumper and new hatch.

So what is a fair amount to ask? I don't know how accurate KBB values are so I figured I'd go right to the source and just ask people, other owners, what they are willing to pay for a car like mine.

thanks
Anthony

i just checked mine on KBB the other cay and its still around $13,500.

the price of anything all depends on who you are selling it to.
i could have a rare coin worth 500k, but if i can't find anyone to buy it, its worthless.

me personally (if mine was totaled and was looking for another PW) id be willing to pay a higher amount then someone that not as much of an enthusiest as i am.
also with the way gas has been people are also willing to pay more for a car that getts good MPG.
my sister has a GMC yucon XL that KBB said is thill worth 10k, but i promis she would have a hard time selling it for more than 5K

the new Smart car only sells at the dealer for 18k but there is a waiting list so ive seen them go for as much as 30k on ebay

I have an '05 with 41k miles and CARMAX offered me 9500 cash. I know it's worth at least 10,500 so I didn't go for it but it's nice to know in caseI need to sell if I lose my job. I don't owe much more for the car so it's nice to know i'm not upside down on the loan.

carmax would give you 9,500 and then turn around and sell it for 12,500.
i hade a friend sell en 05 with 35k miles to a toyota dealer.
there first offer was 8k, he said "hells no"
they came back in less then a week and offered 11k so he said yes. then they sold it for 16k.
it was all decked out with everythin TRD made for the car so it was worth it.

best way to check is go to vehix.com to see how much are other people selling.

it all depends on who you're selling to really. some people notice these as a total jewel for what they are and how they perform economically. others might see them as not worth anything stupid boxy piece of crap car. try to find an enthusiast to sell to that really WANTS the car.

i bought my 06.5 with 11k miles for $12,900 2 years ago. it is still worth more than that now with 32k miles.

yours having nearly 60k miles, i would list it for $15,000 and work your way down to about $13,500 at the lowest. someone will definitely cough up $13k for that car.

I was at a scion dealer a few weeks ago and they told me they'd give me $10,000 on it, I owe $15,000 (upside down for $5000) as a trade in on a new 2008 xB. I just was there to drive one-still like gen 1 much better.

I see them sell so widely here-everywhere from $8500 to $16,500 (more than new).

If you watch craigslist in your area (including cities near by) you will get an idea what people are asking. You can even email them and ask them if the've had much for lookers.

If you are trading it in on something that doesn't get the really good mileage you might have a very strong hand (like that guy with his sisters Yukon) and get a smokin' deal.

wow, good responses. Snowromance, 13k?!?!?! Holy crap.. the Audi stealership i was in the other day offered me 4k and then 6k for trade in. i was like WHAT?!?! and i laughed at him.

I still owe 7500 on the car, so i need to atleast cover that loan. I was hoping to get atleast 8500 or 9k on trade-in so i can have some cash leftover for a downpayment on the Audi. But if i could get more than 10k privately for the car i'd be as happy as a pig in a pile of crap. I just think people are going to use the accident and say it's not worth anything, because it shows up on the carfax report since I used the guys insurance to pay for the new rear hatch.

Most all the ones I see for sale are marked up ridiculously high. Hope no one's getting ripped off paying much more than what's fair. I just got the GF an '05 in great shape, 115k miles for $7100. It's like new, fresh brakes, tires, tune, regularly maintained. Runs as good as my '06 w/26k miles.
I've seen Gen 2's for sale for ridiculous prices as well.
A local dealer will sell new for 1k off MSRP sticker if you're savvy and don't fall for any of their other bs. They really try to work you on lowballing your trade if you have one, but persistence pays

You can usually ask for something between full retail value and trade in value if you are listing it for sale. If you trade it in you will lose. Best bet is to find someone that wants one bad. Good luck.

food for thought.
when my 06.5 xb was totalled a couple weeks ago (just passed 55k on it), my payout was 3 bucks under 14k!

i was quite happy to say the least

WOW, you got lucky. They usually only payout trade in values.

I hope I don't end up in that situation, lol.. I'd rather sell it than risk my life.

Well if anyone knows someone interested, I'm going to be putting it up for sale for about 10.5! I'll post a thread in the proper forum when I get a chance

i decided on waiting to buy the audi.. until atleast this spring/summer. The company i work for already had a wave of lay-offs and another one is coming, so i need to survive the next one. No big purchases until then.

it's cool though, i'll stick with the xB a little longer, i don't think it's value will drop significantly in the next few months.

I paid 9800 for my 05 box with 32k at a toyota dealership in october of 07
which i thought was a STEAL! so i grabbed it up

Weirdly THIS year around october i looked for an xB to replace my gf's leased altima
same 1st gen style and i couldn't find any ON A LOT! less then 12k! lol
private sales were hovering around 10k but didnt really wanna go that route.

So with the gas prices people were paying alot more.

It really depends on the market, right now we are in a recession BUT gas is down.
So you'd need to be hopeful there is a market for economical vehicles .......

which their usually is
