Default How much is my xB worth?

Well my wife wants to drive the xB too now and can't drive stick and no longer wants a beetle so it looks like I will be selling my box and picking up an auto and I am really not sure what its worth.

It is a BOP 5-speed, 15k, floor mats and stock other then that, I am going to go to the dealer but I was wondering what you guys think I should ask for it, I would like to put it up for about 1k more than I would like to get so I have some negotiating room to work with.

It is coming winter here so I am wondering if I should wait till SUmmer to get the new box incase they come out with any suprises for '06 but they may not release early in June the same as they did for 05's so I dunno.

KBB does not have it yet, actually they have no scions at all listed so no luck there thanks for the idea though and she refuses to drive stick, its not a big deal to me because I am usually priving the beater to work back and forth to save miles so she will be driving it more than anyone and she just does not understand how 'cool' stick is and regardless or how many times you explain she still does not understand why anyone would buy a stick when autos are available

well you wont get as much you want, worth maybe 12.-13k as far as a new model there wont be., from what it sounds like the xB in 06 will most likely be its last year but it will be replaced with some else (Says Farley) so you may want to wait, or wait to see what the ''dL'' looks like...

I think you could probably get more for it if you sold it yourself vs the dealer. Just my opinion.

Yeah that is pretty much always the truth, I try to never have to deal with a dealer unless it is a car on its last legs and I do not feel right selling it to a private party.

I am really suprised no one else has posted what they think it is worth, I was thinking about 12,500 but think that may be a little too high?

Tell your wife you'll pay her $2500 to learn stick. It'll be cheaper for you and give her the incentive to learn. everyone should know how to drive a stick, you never know when you might need to.

Take what you guess it will be worth, and then knock that about in half for what a dealer will give you. At least you are off to a realistic start, you see all these XB's on here that have some wheels and other stuff on them and the kids think they are going to get $4k more than new price for them, then wonder why they don't sell.

You should realistically be able to get around 11k-12K for it. Since it is so new, if you wait to summer it's going to drop another grand or two by then. By that time used ones are not going to be so scarce.

It's a fact people. No one thought the value of thier Beetle, PT Cruiser, Mini-cooper, or Ford Thunderbird was going down at all either. Look at the value of any of them now. (I own a beetle with about 30K in mods in it myself that I'd be LUCKY to get 18K for the whole package if I decide to sell it)

Supply and demand. If you have to sell it, do it as fast as possible while demand is high and supply is low. This is a niche car like the ones listed above and once the people that want them, get them- it's done. Well maybe not to the extreme of the others since this one also has the added benefit of a very low new purchase cost.

mmmmm which caddy?

That loss isn't bad, but then it doesn't include the tax you paid

I've personally taken in 3 xb's on trade and I have found that you take about a 2-4k hit from what you bought it at. Depending on what mods you have on it it will be less. But on average about 3k from what you bought it at.

Plus trading on a caddy, they had a bit more room to work with than trading on a scion.

Not many people have posted saying what we think it's worth because this discussion happens on a bi-weekly basis(amazingly almost always wih the xB) and no one really knows the answer.

If you could get 12,000 for it , I say take it.

haha yeah same thing here actually my wife was reading this thread and started laughing all of a sudden and I could not figure out what she was laughing about lol..

That is about what I am thinking too 11-12k is a decent price, I am going to pull the system and everything this weekend and make it 100% stock, if anything I learned that the more custom work you do to your car the LESS valuable is seems to be, I was luck enough to still have my rims , springs and everything else still in the box so I don't have to go through taking all of that off.. Thanks guys

See now as a salesperson i would say you would get maybe $10k if you were lucky. Reason being is for the dealer to try and sell that same car, he'd have to try and ask $12k, just to maybe get $11k. Why would someone want to buy a used xB with 15K miles for $12k, when they could buy a new one for $14,965..see what I mean

escalade ext (2002 with 26" wheels)

tax was around 800.

in july/aug these things were selling at auction for 4k over list (with low miles).
i forgot the name of the site but it is for dealers only, the salesman didn't know what they were worth and checked it out.
i could not give my keys away fast enough. (i came to my senses and kept my little box)

They usually sell at auction for more than sticker. They are so new people don't know how reasonable the prices are new. Plus dealers love having them on the lot for eye candy. And have heard stories of people buying used ones just because they thought they were special limited edition imports. Thats just what I've Heard
