Default How is your winter going?

I've had my Scion parked in the garage for most of the winter and I'm dieing for spring to come. Winters a good time catch up on some mods. I finally got my subs and deck hooked up....

What are you guys and gals up to this winter?

I guess thats a matter of perspective... Our winter down here in NC hasnt really even started yet... aside from small ice storm that coated trees with 1/4 an inch of ice but nothing else. But I don't really have any plans for my box this winter. I might do some minor things, possible BB emblems or some of those metal door sill plates.

Much easier to do mods since now you can order online at your convenience.

WINTER SUCKS!!

Anyway, I've been driving mine minus most of my more elaborate mods. I'd be buying more stuff if the car biz didn't slow down when the weather turned bad too. No car sales = no money. Even salesmen have a house payment and a heating bill to meet!

It seems that no matter how many times i wash my car the wet salt from the roads seem to get my car covered. The box does do good in the snow that will prob change once I get some better wheels.

Freakin' cold. It's been close to zero or colder for the last week. We're expecting a warm up later in the week...it's supposed to be 30. Mark

My tC has been in the garage for a month now and I'm missing it terribly, I've been driving my beater 90 Celica, which I plan on selling in the spring to get my rims.

Driving to work. Driving home from work. Driving to work. Driving home from work. That's the xB's mission when I can't ride my motorcycle. And it does an EXCELLENT job of it! It's the best vehicle for snow and ice I've ever owned, because of traction control and ABS and basic vehicular competence.

When spring comes and I can motorcycle once again, I might do some mods. It really needs a light in the rear that comes on with that wimpy interior light that came with it. And some seat heaters. Oh yeah, a Yakima rack for when I'm hauling something that won't fit inside (a rare thing, to be sure).

Maybe not in charlotte. Wilkes/Boone/Sparta has seen some more action. Its not too bad, nothing stopped me from washing weekly or waxing. I still need a winter car though, you would think finding a early-mid 90's geo metro or something along the lines of that for $400 or less would be easy to find...

Oh well.

Past few days here in MN have been cold too -- low of -5 in the AM and only in the 20s PM, but today it made it to the low 30s, so I washed my box too!

It was covered with salty residue and it was GOOD to get it all clean so I could store it that way. I got the gravel swept outta the garage too, so that whole side where the xB is stored is CLEAN. Tomorrow it's s'posed to get into the high 30s so I'll wash the Camry too, while I have the chance, although it's not near as dirty as the xB was, being a Garage Queen and all, so only out for a few highway hops while the xB has been taking me to work and back and forth and back . . . .

Merry Christmas, everyone! And CLEAN xBs all around for the holidays!!

Don in Rochester:---------------We are native Minnesotan's------wife Pipestone, and myself Mpls.---and we kind of know about the minus numbers and below freezing number of good ole' gopher-land. BUT ----- we have been "Floridians" for nearly 30 years now----and anything below 50 is really cold to us-----and 40's with wind, forget it------I washed the xB in low 60's today with sweat pants, sweat shirt and jacket on----------We Really Can't Take It--------kind of like "tender plants" that they tell us to take inside during cold weather. Brrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! I'm going outside right now-----with bundles on and look at the neighborhood christmas lights and imagine "snow". PJRACER

Yup; I've seen it before -- move away and you go all soft. I'm from NORTHERN MN (Thief River Falls) where it used to get to -40 'most every winter.. I've gotten soft too, down here in the Tropical MN areas. I don't know what I'd do if it ever got colder than -20 . . . .

Mine is covered in road salt and I'm sick about it. I can hear the rust eating it, and it's too cold to wash off!

I almost went outside with a jacket on after reading some of these posts. Silly me, it's 73 degrees outside I don't need a jacket!
Now where did I put that sunscreen???
