Default HVAC help needed...only blowing out defroster!

OK...so my AC/Heat is only blowing through the defroster...I have exhausted myself with the search button and found nothing to help me...I just installed a new HU and sirius tuner...used wiring harnesses (soldered and shrink wrapped)...no other problems but seems the air flow selector **** isn't working either...any help/advice would be appreciated

Oh yeah...it's an 06 xB

Are you sure the mixer door cable ( it is a cable) didn't come off the door side?

Most common failure is that the cable is not connected properly or adjusted properly.

built em for 13 years and thisw is the biggest reason for not working.

even if you think you did it right, check it again, I'd bet you that this is the problem.

when you turn the **** all the way clock wise, what happens? in detail
when you turn it counter-clockwise, what happens? in detail

there should be a little bounce back at each position, if not, take it all apart again and look.

You'll need to pull out the center console trim, just like you did for the HU install. They should be connected with clips at both ends. alot of times these come off when you re-install the panel if they were not clipped in real tight

hmmm...I dont' recall seeing any clips or cables attached to the center console...other than the 3 plugs for HVAC controls...I'll have to check it out...but I'm still not sure what you mean by "door side" and "clipped at both ends"...guess I'll know when I open her up again...so is it a cable that is attached to the far right ****?

Edit: just wanted to say thanks for your help with this issue

If you open the dash up and remove the radio the cable is located to the right where there in nothing but an empty space there is a cable that is connected to the selector, if this has something on it or awire interfrearing with this it will not work. remove what is interfrearing with it and it should work again.

Thanks a million for the info and help, I just didn't think about the cables...I wouldn't be surprised if a wire from the HU or Sirius Tuner (might actually be the tuner itself) was interfering with it...I'll check it when I get home and let you know if that is the culprit or not

well it wasn't the blue cable behind the ****, it was the blue cable under the dash on the driver's side...I must have taken it off the clip when I pulling out the carpet...but it back on the clip with about a half inch of blue past the clip and everything works great...took a couple of try's with the cable to find exactly where to clip it (kept getting that springy **** problem)...so much thanks for the info on the blue cable I prolly wouldn't have found it otherwise

I actually have had a similar issue, but I think my cable is actually broken. I will have to take it in, unfortunately. I'm hoping that this is an issue covered under warranty.
