Also in an ever competitive world. . . they want to prevent the competition from copying new features that will be incorporated into the new models. . . as well as hp ratings, options, etc. . . they don't want a competitor to see the numbers and make some changes to "beat" them at the last minute.
Designing and producing a new model is very expensive, and the last thing you want is for it to be obsolete upon its release.
Finally, they want to avoid a hype. . . when people know of an upcoming new model, they tend to hold off on buying the outgoing model, just to wait for the new one. This makes the prices for the current model fall, then profits fall, dealers get angry. Slow inventory is one of the most costly elements of selling cars. That's why outgoing models get such a huge discount. Toyota doesn't have to do this as much, as they generally release information within a month/weeks of release.

Goddamn... 2008 prediction is rather absurd, don't you think? Besides, Scion has said that they plan to kill off models after one life cycle... so the "next xA" will probably be an entirely different car. But I'll be a optimist and hope that it will be a hybrid.
Hey, it says "Replacement" not upgrade or redesign... Name unknown.
Would they go to an xD?
More speculation -- if they're replacing the xA, would it be another small car? I would like even smaller than an xA -- and make it a hybrid.
Heh he, a Scion sportscar hybrid... oooh.
But they could also go the other direction and make a Scion truck.. I think Scion is unpredictable like that.
