Default I have a stupid question about my xB.

I'm not mechanically inclined and I have a small problem with my xB.

Whenever I start the ignition, for about 3-5 minutes, the Low Engine Coolant light (the blue one) stays turned on.

Is this something I can take care of or do I need to go to the dealership?

Is engine coolant something I can buy from Pep Boys and put in myself?

I'm sorry in advance for this dumbass question

Is that all it is?

You're talking about the blue symbol that looks like a sail (kinda), right?

Default Little blue Thing

There is no temp meter in the scion.
What you have are two idiot lights.
Blue = cold. try to keep RPM < 3000
Reg = HOT. You might have a problem.

blue is not bad.

RED IS BAD.

However with this system you will NOT see the temp creaping up to the red.
BAD BAD BAD design. I'l like to see green and yellow. green = OK. yellow is before red.

I agree. You don't know you are hurting your car until the damage is done and the red light comes on. Bad idea.

I waited like a good driver for the blue light to turn off before leaving. That lasted all of two weeks. At least it helps that I'm flaky and usually have to leave the car running before I go back for something I forgot.

The dealer should have told you that this is NORMAL everytime you start up the car.

This is again, perfectly normal--and should happen every single time you start her up. Nothing to worry about.

its normal dude, the light is letting you know that your engine is cold, ie not warmed up yet. Don't start the heater untill the light goes off. You will have cold air if you do. The on;t dumb questions are the ones that no one asks, or I ask. he he

Default blue light

yeah the blue light comes on every time you start the car you can still drive when it's on just don't do any "extreme" driving it will go off when the engine is ready for more harder driving...ie don't do burnouts with the burn light on, don't try to kill your pal's civic off the line with the blue light on, you can drive around your neigborhood or drive through the parking lot your parked in, it shouldn't take long for the engine to heat up.....of course for those that live in the upper northeast it might take a little longer....
