Default i lost my gas cap....

ok first of all....hold the laughing to a minimum.

i was in a hurry getting gas the other night and while i went inside to pay my gas cap must have fallen out of the little holder thing on the door. and when i was running by i just shut the door quickly without looking....

so my question is...where do i go to get a new gas cap?

Oh, and keep in mind, you'll also be throwing a CEL soon, if not already.

Try Autozone or other parts stores first before going to the dealer.

I was under the assumption that they were all tethered to the filler, at least mine is.

As stated, just about any auto parts store should be able to handle it. Just make sure it's a proper replacement so it seals right.

They are all tethered. That's why I can't understand how it got lost.

Possibly someone ELSE needed one, and it had some help?

That wouldn't surprise me a bit.
Is the tether still there? Or did it break off? Hopefully we can get more info...

Maybe when the gas door closed it sheared the tether and the cap fell off

I guess it could happen. But that means the cap was resting on the paint. I hang my tether on a hook inside the door while pumping fuel tho.

Unlike Jerzy most gas stations have the counter person inside. Not standing in a booth outside. And our states trust us enough to let us pump our own gas... What a concept.

Exactly right! I've heard Jersy horror storries about what some of thes fuel jockies have done to Scions. They can spill fuel, scratch the paint with the nozzle, over fill and mess up the charcoal filter, overfill and charge you for $5 of fuel on the ground ect...
You should have heard one of them yell at me when I started to fill my own fuel. From then on I made sure I filled up prior to entering that hellhole of a state.

I wouldn't trust anyone to pump my gas without scratching the paint or spilling gas on the paint.....The tether on my cap hangs low enough to miss the fender, surprised you could shut the door without putting the cap back on. Were you able to get another cap and tether?
