Didnt really know where to post this so sorry if its in the wrong forum. But today my brother ask me what the ist stands for on the jdm version of the xa and I was ashamed that I didnt know since I own a xa. So I did a search and nothing so does any one know the meaning if you do please educate me.

Personally... I think its the japanese screwing up American slang (not that i have a problem with it)... I see a lot of things like Stylist and bBist and who knows what else... but if you want take it for its literal defintion than here it is...

read somewhere the ist is actually taken from the suffixes of artIST, stylIST, idealIST, sentimentalIST.... continue guys.... whatever *ist u can come up with

I read "best balance" in an article somewhere, but I'm going by what they told me at the factory plant here in Japan over that; which is that it's "black box". Of course...not all of the bB's I see rolling around here are black...but that's Japan.
And yea...in Japanese, Ist would sound more like "east" (actually...it sounds more like "easuto")...I still can't help but say it like in English...probably more because of an old joke from a few years back. (Though I could swear that our tourguide said it like it would be in English, not Japanese...)
