go to interior. possibly just use the arm rest only due to our shifter being floor mounted

i edited my initial post because i was referring to the armrest only and not the full assembly. I've never looked at the xB's mounting points so thats why i'm asking

the ebrake on scions is off to the right, this armrest console uses the ebrake in the center, if you're just talking about using the armrest part, why buy the whole thing? why not just find an armrest that will fit. it could be fitted with some modification and glassed to your console, but it would be much easier just to find one better suited for the console. i've searched all over for armrests that would work on the xb/xa. the best fitting one i've found that is also functional is the armrest off of saturns. it has a slot cut to the right of the armrest for the ebrake and a cupholder that slides out to where the ebrake cutout is. saturn armrests are also something like what the xb/xa should have as an armrest. the saturn armrest is designed to slide into the rear cupholder of a saturn and screw down with two points. i've been working on something for my xa with this saturn armrest and i am almost complete. the saturn armrest requires little modification, little grinding and drilling, and it is compatible.

the arm rest your doing.....

currently its 45-55(including gas which is understandable these days!!!)dollars for the armrest from Saturn new. and this plastic insert mount with rods to attach it is 100 dollars?

will that armrest even work for a manual Scion xB? its so big i'd think my forearm and hand wouldn't work around the end of it. just asking. do you have to wedge your hand between that extended piece and the ebrake handle in order to pull the handbrake up? it looks tight

correct, the armrest comes out to about 50 bucks almost with tax and what not from saturn brand new, which is pretty cheap for an armrest. the price is still undecided, it may be less, depending on what materials i use and how fast it goes. right now i'm in the process of making the mold, i got a little more fiberglassing to do on the mold and it should be ready to start filling tomorrow.
the shifter is easily accessible with the armrest, it probably doesn't look it from the picture but keep in mind the armrest is not mounted in place, i was holding it in place with my hand to show what it'd look like. with the ebrake there is limited space but i think with any armrest you're going to have to reach over the armrest to get to the ebrake unless you want just an elbow rest.
i'm going to try to mount the armrest back as far as i can to give more room for the ebrake.

don't get me wrong...what your doing is a great idea. The only reason i thought of doing a smaller armrest was the ebrake issue since i never depend on the car in gear when parking...especially with my driveway and its incline. Good luck...looks like your onto something worthwhile especially since i'm storing my cds in my glovebox.

aye, thank you... if you want to use that armrest console you have listed above i'd get the measurements of it and measure your existing armrest. you could turn that center cupholder into the shifter with a little work and just grind out the ebrake slot. just think it'd be a little too much work to make it fit. you could always just cut it right below the swivel point and glass it to your console but you gotta keep in mind that theres that screw in the rear cupholder that ties the console down. that's why i chose to do a mount for the armrest since it'd be easier for plug-n-play style and people wouldn't have to drill holes in their new car. you could probably do it with the mount i have and just glass it to the mount. that way the screw is still accessible and you got an armrest that you can remove and what not if need be. seems like they would've came out with an armrest for it by now, guess they move slow on those things.
