Default Idiot Lights

I just hit 4500 miles on my xB. When I got in today, my Check Engine light was on, and another light "VSC". So I am taking it back to the dealer tomorrow.

Anybody else have this problem?

reset your "maintenance required" light... there's directions in your owner's manual

Did you do an oil change already? If not then that is telling you that it is time. Every time you do oil changes, your maintenance log needs to be reset because it counts miles, not time or actual oil variences.

The check engine light makes sense with the scheduled maintenance but the VSC light does not. Why would the Vehicle Stability Control light turn on for an oil change? Did it turn on and stay on? And does it happen to say "VSC off"? If that is the case, just hit the VSC button next to the steering wheel to turn it back on.

I changed the oil for the first time over a month ago, after 3000 miles. I thought something went funny in my dash, with those lights being on. Also, my doors open light is on also. My Trac On/Off light is also on. All the lights go off when I turn the engine off, except the door light. I don't understand it, so I have a servicing scheduled for today. I have never heard of this happening before, just am curious to see if this ever has happend to anyone before. It just started, that's where the confusion comes from.

I think you guys are confusing the "Check Engine" light that the first poster stated and the "Maintenance Required" light.

Other than trying to reset the ECU, you're probably not gonna troubleshoot this one on your own. Your're on the right track, take it to the dealer

Yeah, if all lights are on, take to dealership. After reading his last post I thought the same thing.

re-tighten your gas cap and reset your light. mine came on like a week after i got it. i read the code and it said evoprative and my mechanic neighbor said gas tank. so i retightened it and hasnt done it since. tighten ur cap 2 or 3 clicks.

I took it to the dealership today. It looks like Car Toys, hooked up the alarm funny. Which was causing the idiot lights to act up. This is according to the Scion service center. So I was told to have Car Toys UN install the alarm. Which I will do. Then I will just bite the bullet, and buy the Scion car alarm.

I guess it doesn't pay to try and save a buck.

Does anyone know if the Maintenance Required light comes on ONLY for an oil change, or maybe for some other situations?

The light does not come on and stay on and nag. Instead it blinks briefly at start-up then goes out. Check to see if your xB light blinks at start-up. If so, reset it.

Okay, I got back from Car Toys. They did not want to give me a refund for screwing up the installation of my car alarm. They wanted to try installing it again. I probabaly should never have taken it to them in the first place, I doubt they had ever seen a Scion before. Needless to say, they screwed up the installation. Atleast the Car Toys near the Seattle Center sucks when it comes to Scions.

I remember watching the guy that installed it. Talk about confused. It took him 7 hours to install a simple car alarm. If you want an alarm for your Scion, do yourself a favor, spend the money, take it to the dealership. Watching the guy from Car Toys try and install a car alarm in my xB, was like watching Christopher Reeve breakdance.

Default Trac on/off

Did the SCION CTR tell you were the TRAC ON/OFF button is ? This should have nothing to do with install , unless it wont turn ON or OFF now when pushing the button. And I remember seeing a post about turning the VSC off for people who like the sliding contest . So I think if that light is ON , you need to show the Dealer , Unless you want it OFF.
