well, I would continue to look around.

Someone on here said that in New York insurance is more expensive period.

But, I would go to the progressive, state farm, and any other insurance companies that you can think of and many of them have websites with insurance quote sections.

That is what I did, and under my current State Farm policy I pay $300 less per 6 months on my xA then Geico quoted me.

Just continue to look around. If the national insurance companies are still too high, then grab the phone book and look for local new york companies and co-ops, sometimes you can get a great deal through one of them.

You are on the internet right? Then I suggest using it. [/url]

I have an Insurance Agency in NY and I can tell You Internet quotes given by an insurance company can be a total waste of time. Cause your getting just that a QUOTE not the actual figure. I cant tell you how many times people have come into my office expecting to get insurance at the same price they got from the net. Wrong Wrong Wrong yea in some cases it can give you a ball park figure But what about your credit, driving record, and prior insurance ??? Most net quotes dont check all of this information on you. Ive seen to many times { Geico is famous for this } Where even over the phone they give you a quote tell you how much you need for a downpayment and bam 3 days later your premium went up by 500.

As for Ali La Pointe that might not be that bad of a price in NY How old are you ?? Where do you Live ?? Hows your driving record ?? All of thease wll be a key in determing the price ?? You did say this is going on your brothers policy so I am assuming it will be in his name ? So how is his record and such !!

My fellow scion owners I leave you with this when shopping for Insurance The key is to make it clear to the person or company you are dealing with that you want the EXACT PRICE. You want to know that your record meets underwriting aproval, You want them to check your driving record you want them to check your credit { if they are a company that looks at credit }. If the person says well they wont have a exact price for a few hours because your info has to be reviewed, fine be patient it will be worth the wait in the long run. Ive had my own clients come to me and say oh your rates are too high I called so and so Insurance and they told me it will cost me alot less if I switch to them. I always reply by saying did they just give you a quote or did they actually check your driving record did they run your personal information ??? If not go call them back and see what happens Most of the time though not all the time they call me back and thank me because that amazing rate now turned into more than thay are currently paying.

One thing to keep in mind, most of the insurance companies don't have all the '05s in their system yet. My amount through progressive just dropped from $867 / 6mon to $590 /6mon (2 tickets) just from their update.

yeah that's really high. we're in the People's Republic of Pennsylvania, where insurance is out of sight generally, but our rates are under $400 for 6 months.

If you have any moving violations or if you are adding high liability limits, or if you are adding really low deductibles, then expect the premiums to go way up.

Progressive usually has among the lowest rates if they're available in your area.

We pay the Brooklyn tax in my neighborhood - my premiums are 1800/6 months. Got mine from the insurance broker that I use for my company. I probably paid a hundred or so more than through a budget broker, but he's always given me good advice, saved me $$ in the past.

I used a budget guy recommended by the dealer (not the best idea as the dealers are not totally disinterested parties) who gave me a verbal quote of $1300 per YEAR (!) for full $500K coverage but could come through with a written quote when I needed it.

Anyway, for Brooklyn 1800 per 6 months ain't bad.
