Default Insurance question

So aparantly I pee'd someone off hardcore and I keep getting threats against my box, they know it's my baby and know hurting it will hurt me the most. They have said that they are gonna key it and slash my tires etc. Etc.

My question is: if they do this, and they are not all talk. Will insurance cover doing a color change? Or will I have to get it painted back PW. Has anyone gone thru this before with insurance?

Hopefully they are just all talk and don't do anything, but if something does happen, I would love to have this info before it actually happens.

Thanks.

Unless they key your ENTIRE box, I doubt a color change would be covered.

If you wanted to do that, you'd probably just have to arrange something with the shop and pay the difference. That is, they would quote the repair for whatever is damaged and you would pay the difference of what it costs to paint the whole thing.

1. call the police, get the notes examined, maybe they have prints on them or whatever and it can be logged.

2. the purpose of car insurance is to basically restore your vehicle to the condition it was before it was damaged by a related incident.

3. now, you can deal with this in a certain way. if something happens to your box, you can get an estimate for the cost to repair the damage to your box, you can get a check from your insurance company for the damage. and if you want, you can use that money for whatever you want. you don't even have to fix up your box. you can buy an giant tv or whatever. but your box will still be messed up.

OR

you can put that money down towards repainting the car anyway.

lastly, repainting a car a difference color decreases resale value.

Car insurance sucks, no matter what, its jsut another ploy for us to shell out money, and if the time comes the agency will stand there and tell you to your face everything is covered but they arent going to pay for it... state farm can kiss my ___. they still havnt done anything abut mine being broken into...

Insurance will cover to put you back in the same place you were before the accident. So if they key it they will pay to repaint the damaged panels back to their factory color.

As said above, if it happens you can always take the check for the repairs and see if you can negotiate with a shop to use that money towards a complete color change, and pay the rest out of pocket.
