I hear it too, I keep telling myself it's the needles in the instrument cluster and there's nothing i can do about it, so I crank the stereo until I can't hear it anymore

i'd say take it in for the tsb but it takes hours and the techs have been known to break things and make it worse in the long run.

here's a shot in the dark.... b/c i know this is the only dash rattle in mine. Is there anything in your ashtray? I have a few lucky coins in the ashtray and when it is closed, they rattle with no end in sight. If I open the tray about halfway, the rattle stops.

I have the rattle too, and it's not the ash tray. . . it sounds more like a gentle vibrating buzz, than a rattle, as it isn't all too loud, and is rather fast in speed. It worsens if I accelerate hard. . .

It doesn't bother me too much tho, as most other cars twice the price do not fare as well.

My xA has only about 250 miles on it. There isn't any rattle anywhere.

thats a good description of it. On the xB we have a buzzing on the left side of the dashboard. On the xA it seems to come from the speedo cluster area.

There's a TSB for the rattle? I haven't heard anything, but then again none of my close friends (with Scions) has complained about it...

Yup same here...somewhere at or near the speedo area. I thought at first the mirror but guess not. Tried tabbing on the surrounding dash pieces but no luck, and I am thinking it's something inside. Maybe someday I will have to pop the gauge surrounding piece and go from there.

the sound is coming from the center of the dash, I had it for some time, took it in, had 3 service managers drive with me and they finally, they hear the sound, took the dash apart, added some insulation and padding and felt, sounds purring now, but other stuff's loose, its a lost cause, unless you really pad the entire dash,

To all those who have noticed this rattle/buzzing coming from the center of the dash. I had this from the day I picked up my RS 1.0. Took back to the dealer who isolated it to the vent cover between the windshield and instrument pod. Service department tried to fix with padding but didn't work. They ended up ordering replacement vent cover (no cost to me). After they replaced the part, haven't heard a sound. (Wonder if there may a design flaw or simply a bad batch which was manufactured).

Anyone know if Scion has found a real fix to this yet,? Mine seems to be getting worse but the dealer can't find any noise when they try.

i used to have it but i took apart my dash one day and it hasnt done it since. thats my one gripe about the xB, not enough deadner in this vehicle. i cant complain too much though because there are a lot of great features for 14K. i guess i cant expect lexus quality with kia price :D
