iPod wiring and the nooooob 101
I need help! I just got my xB today and I'm wanting to get my iPod setup looking super clean.
I had the dealer install the Pioneer stereo w/ iPod capability. I'd like to have my ipod sit to the right of the stereo, in the cubby hole above the glove box, facing the front passenger seat. Ya get me?
Can I run a cable directly from the stereo, behind the dash, and up into the cubby hole while still getting a charge and all the info to appear on the stereo screen.
I have absolutely no idea how to do this and I only understand the plainest of english when it comes to this techy stuff.
Thanks everybody!

The factory iPod cable is long enough to go almost anywhere.
You would have to remove your center console, remove the console connector then reroute the cable to the cubby.
I have an EQ in the "oven"...with all the DIY guides here on SL its easy.
If you're going for the oven, be sure to drill through the top/roof/ceiling of the compartment! That way, nothing is readily visible if you decide to go back to factory stock.
If you're going for the small square holder over the glove box, use the factory knock out thats there.
Good luck!

You would need to fabricate a custom made splitter.
Not sure if its even possible, since the under console connectors/cable *seem* to be unavailable separately.
My pod lives full time under the driver seat by the jack. The cable goes between the seat and the console to underneath. Only needs to come out for updates.
Would you even want or need connections at two locations?

Good point!
Any mods I do, I always shoot for non destructive ones that can be returned to factory stock at a later time.
Relocating your existing iPod connector and cable qualifies. It can be returned to dead stock and I doubt anyone could tell the difference!
I think an "in addition to" custom cable would necessitate mods that may not be 100% reversible. It would also take a lot of time and electronic skills to perform.
