Default IPODS and scion xbs....having trouble, anyone that can help?

ok, so i've got the ipod hookup in my xb, it came with the little cord and everything. i just got my hands on a new ipod and was so excited to know that i could hook it up to the car....so i do it. it ends up sounding really crappy!! so i do a little investigating and i found that when the ipod is hooked up through the ipod plug that it only plays out of the right side speakers. i tried messing with the balance and there is NOTHING coming out of the left side at all...OK, so i go out and get an auxilliary wire and hook it up through the auxilliary plug, it works perfect! stereo sounds great!! so now i'm wondering if theres a problem with the wire i'm using to hook it up with through the ipod plug, or maybe theres a problem with the actual plug in the car or maybe its the ipod itself?? i have a release series 3.0, does anyone else have this problem???

no never had that problem. but im sure you could take it to the dealership and they might replace the wire. Or if you know someone that has another plug wire you could borrow theres and try it out. if it works then its your wire but if it does the same thing then its probably the plug in the car.

That makes COMPLETE sense! Thanks for being so helpful and contributing here. We can't thank you enough.

Try a different cable or take it to the dealer. I've never had problems with mine. Sounds great. Oh, and Heath, it's an iPod.

I've got an iPod with the iPod connection and the one time I used it, it worked fine on my RS3. I prefer using the aux jack anyway; I hate how I can't use the actual iPod menu when it's plugged into the iPod jack. I have an 80 gig iPod, so scrolling through all those artists on the stereo just won't cut it.

probably a faulty cord. i just use the aux port, mine didnt come with ipod support even though they said so. oh well! the aux cord works fine. but probably just a fulty wiring issue. your dealer can fix that... as long as they are competant

i dont have another cable to try, looked into buying another one and man, they are ridiculously expensive!! and i dont want to spend that kind of money for it to not work, if its another problem... it works great with the aux cable but if i just bought this car i want EVERYTHING to work, i paid just about 20 grand for the car and for that kind of money i want things to work correctly. i dont want to just "settle" for using the aux even if it is easier, which i know it is... ( i also have the 80gb one and hells yeah, its easier to use the aux cable) i guess i'll take it to the dealer to check it out.. thanks everyone for your help!! and hey, can't we all just get along?? i dont think ipods suck!! i had a non ipod mp3 player, it was awesome, i had to buy the ipod because i bought a mac and the old one wasnt copmpatible. i actually LOVE the ipod alot more than the old mp3 player which was a creative zen... if you think ipods suck thats just your personal opinion.. lets not start a big arguement over what sucks and whats better!! geez..

Are you sure that it's not the iPod itself that's broken? Maybe trying exchanging it for another, or trying someone elses, or try yours in a dock.

It stands to reason that if it works on the aux input, it would work just fine on the other plug. I too am with everyone here. I think it is a bad cable. take the car back and tell them to get you another one.

have the dealer look into it, it should be covered under warrenty, mine works perfectly in stereo - right anf left side play independantly. it could be that the wire that controlls one side was not connected all the way, or the wire was broken during installation.... the great thing about the ipod connection, is that it charges the ipod and lets you use the head unit to change songs, view song titles, etc... the aux jack sucks... i guess if you had a gaming system or something, you could plug in and get audio out through the speakers, but i don't roll like that... thats why i have the hi-def tv at home.... oh, and healthenbrewing, i am sure if we looked at picx of your ride we could find some things to flame, so think about that before you start telling people things that they spent their hard earned $ on "is Garbage".. remember everyone here is different and you should respect their right to be individuals.. if you want to flame people based on what they bought, sign on to a honda element forum and flame away...

Damn…
I find it strangely ironic that the same people who talk so much crap about other peoples rides can get so touchy over a silly comment regarding an ipod.

Carry on!
