Default Just got my Box.... $700 below MSRP!

I've been lurking around this forum ever since the Scions came out, but I just got my Thundercloud xB tonight! The dealer is having a sale, so I got mine at $13690 (including floor mats and delivery) . Brand new too, with 12 miles on the odo

I love the no-haggle pricing There was a couple sitting next to us buying a Camry or something- and they were literally being shat on and insulted by a very pushy salesman for over an hour. Glad I didn't have to go through that to get a good deal.

Actually no, even though I bought an 04 model, but there was an 05 model white car with the same sale price. We almost bought that one.... but decided the silver looks nicer , less.... eh... refrigeratory!

The funny thing was- they had an ad in the newspapaer advertising the sale, but my salesman didn't know about it at all- he almost didn't believe me when I told him about the sale. And same thing with the finance manager- he was like "I thought these cars were supposed to be fixed pricing..."

this is kind of hard to believe. can you scan the documents leaving out all personal information as proof? the only other way to discount an xB is if a dealer is having trouble moving them, so all the xB's are discounted.

Default Scion discounts.....

Being a Scion sales rep here, I can tell you that it is POSSIBLE for a Scion dealership to discount vehicles, but they ALL have to be IDENTICLE versions and they have to float it by Scion first (i.e. they have to give a legitimate reason why they want to discount).

Just throwing in my 2 cents before all you bargain bin shoppers start spouting untruths how you THINK you may begin to haggle on a Scion.....

NOT gonna happen folks.......

Mmm, I don't have a scanner...

But the dealer is Piercey Scion in San Jose, CA. In fact, if you picked up any weekend San Jose Mercury newspapers from the last 2 weekends, you could have seen the ads touting the sale prices. The ad even said "5 available at this price".

After I bought mine last night, there were at least 2 others on the lot (one white and one thunder) selling for $13690. If you're local you could go and check them out. It's a pretty good deal.

I have one more question for you guys- how well are the rear skirts attached to your rear bumpers? I looked at 6 or 7 cars in that dealership, and every one of them have the skirts on somewhat crooked this way or that way. Do they all come crooked and sloppy like that? I'm having the dealer try to fix it, but I'm not sure how well it'll turn out. I'll be going back to pick up the car in a few minutes.

Funny you say that, there have been strange occurances where the bumper falls off all together... Bad batch maybe. :?

No, the cars come with the skirts uninstalled so that they don't get damaged during transport. Apparently the dealer's fit quality standard isn't as high as the factory's. I doubt that the new car prep tasks fall to the senior mechanics!

The skirts can be realigned correctly, provided that the original installer didn't damage the plastic clips under the bumper or on the skirt.

When you get a new car at the dealership you have to do a PDI first, PDI is Pre-Delivery Inspection. It is inspected to make sure everything works before it is sent to the customer. For the xB you have to attach the bottom portion of the rear bumper since it is not attached from the factory. There are these black reinforcement pieces that support that lower portion part. I know at my dealership we have found the black pieces still in bags laying on the floor because the idiot who did the PDI did not install the bumper correctly. This may be the problem with some of your guys cars. I have never done a PDI on any Scion other than one xA so I don't really know the exact process of putting that bumper on but I see people do it all the time.

I got a $300 off MSRP when I bought mine. This happened during the official east coast launch date for Scion (Feb 3rd). I got the discount because CarMax had a January ONLY "trade in your vehicle, get a new car one with $300 off MSRP" sale. The sales person convince the sales manager to let me get the xB with $300 off MSRP although the sale was over. Even CarMax website stated at the time that the January sale only applies to Toyota's and not the Scions or the Prius. Opps, their mistake...hahahaha. BTW, this is CarMax in Laurel, MD not the Chevy/Ford/Mitsu/Toyota/Scion AutoMall in Kenosha, WI.

From what I have been told they can discount, but every car has to have the identical discount, have to run it by Scion. I have also been told they are NOT allowed to advertise discounts! That is supposed to be only within the dealership. I would suspect that other Scion dealers around the San Jose area have, or will be reporting this dealership to the higher ups.

Mmmm, good info! I got under my car, and saw 2 black plastic reinforcements in the 2 rear corners. Are those the right ones? Is there supposed to be another one in the middle?

Also, are the skirts glued onto the bumper somehow? The dealer fixed most of the misalignment, but there is still a little bit. But it won't budge at all when I tried to wiggle it.

Well, As of this weekend, Piercey Scion is still advertising the $13569 sale price for the xB ("3 available at this price") in the San Jose Mercury, for the 3rd weekend in a row as far as I know. Go figure.

I flipped through the paperwork, and I noticed that my car arrived at the dealer 6/1, with 2 miles on the odometer. After dealer prep, etc, it became 3 miles. When we test drove the car on 7/1, it had 12 miles. This dealer has a rather fixed 2 mile test drive loop. (we tested 3 cars, and were directed onto the same loop all 3 times) So that means:
1. it sat on the lot for 1 whole month
2. during that month no more than 4 people test drove that car.

This tells me the sales of the xB's have slackened quite a bit in this area. So I would expect to see more sales and discounts in the near future. Whatever happens though- I got mine- it's a great car at a great price What more can I ask for? .... eh well, maybe some fat-lip rims!?!?
