Thanks guys for the comments..
It's been over a month since I got the vehicle back and I been trying driving it with the intention of trying to figure out whether it drives the same or not...
The car does feel a bit more bumpier in the back, but I have yet to check if they had replaced my Monroe Sensa-shocks with the OEM ones since the damage was in the back..
Here's something of note though, when I had to go get gas, I noticed my gas cap not as tight as it was. Yes, it still clicks, but I was afraid of the check engine light coming on.
Sure enough, the Check Engine light, along with the VSC and TRAC OFF lights came on... I plugged in my ScanguageII to find out what's going on and got the codes P0441 and P0455. I thought it was my gas capped, so I retightned it, reseted the codes via scan gauge and the problem went away... until a couple of days later in the morning when the check engine lights came back on again....
Sure enough, the same codes... I took it back to the auto body shop and the guy said that the engine was reporting that it couldn't see the ECU...??? I was like okay... so he reseted the code and gave me back the car in an hour.... sure enough, the lights came back on yesterday...
Great! I'm either going to take it back to the autobody shop to get it fixed because I'm sick and tired of this back and forth bull.... so that's where I stand now...
I need to check out the fit sport at the honda dealer today and see how that car compares with the xB... I still love the xB, but this current xB is giving me more headaches than it's worth...

It's possible the gas cap, filler, or something else was damaged and the shop didn't repair it correctly. Make them fix it. Tell your insurance company the body shop isn't fixing your car to pre accident condition and find out your options.
I was reading another thread about hooking up wiring for trailer lights and someone said the computer is pretty easy to fry. So maybe the body shop "fried" the computer. Or something was shorted from the collision damage.
It's also possible this is unrelated to the damage. If you've exhausted options with the body shop, you can always take it to the dealer and see if it's covered by the warranty.
You need to get it fixed before you sell/trade it though.

I'm going back to the auto body shop tomorrow and get them to fix it... if the lights come back on, i'm calling my insurance and see what are my next options..
at this point.. i'm looking to sell it, but if I have to pay $7k to get a fit sport, I mine as well keep this car until it breaks down....
Also, when i was looking under the car today, I replaced the OEM shocks with the Monroe Shocks before the accident.. anyways, I looked under the car and noticed the driver's side shock have a white thin sticker around the shock, whereas the left side had no sticker.. I did get hit on the drivers side first, so I'm under the impression that they only replaced the drivers side with the OEM shocks..., but im not sure....
That sucks that you're having problems. I've never had a body shop get everything fixed correctly the first time. Usually takes about 3 visits.
I made the mistake of trading a vehicle while it had an error code. It helped that I had the diagnosis from the shop and estimate for the repair ($900 for a sensor). Don't know if it was true or not, but the dealer said they would not increase their offer by $900 if I got it fixed and come back. A week after I'd traded it, I got a call from Nissan saying the repair would be covered by warranty! Argh! So I wasted hundreds of $$$ by dumping the vehicle before getting it fixed. Don't be like me!
Probably best to pull the shocks and see if they match. I don't remember how the stocks and Monroes looked different besides the top mount. Might be good to check anyway in case they did use a Monroe and didn't use that washer for the top mount correctly. Since it's aftermarket, there's probably nothing you can do about it besides buy another Monroe or reinstall one of your originals. And check around for anything else. Many of my problems with the body shops have been not using the correct fasteners or not installing all of them. Stuff you won't see unless you crawl around underneath and take a good look but will make your car rattle and fall apart a few months/years down the road.

Well, I did some searching on the shocks and my feelings were true. I did feel that something wasn't right in my box and it turns out the rear driver's shock was changed back to OEM! (hence the white sticker strip)..

I'm going to bug the autobody shop and talk to the manager (whom I'm a buddy of since i frequently visit the shop)

I have not had my xb long, but I love it. I would strongly suggest staying away from the Honda Element, especially if you are goin with an automatic. IMO the automatic is very weeksauce, and jerky. I test drove one for a day, and could not imagine driving that everyday. On another occasion, I had an element as a loaner from a dealership and that one performed the same way, so I don't think the first one was just a lemon. I love Honda's and generally would not have a problem referring someone to buy one, but I was not impressed with it at all.
With almost 10k in damage, I can't beleive they did not total it. Just keep taking it back to the dealership and reporting problems with it to your insurance until they do total it. My friends ex-wife had a new mazda (in 2005). It was snowing pretty hard and after they parked it to take their daughter into the baby-sitters,it slid down the hill and into a tree. There was extensive damage, but the insurance company still wanted to fix it. It never did drive right again, and they took it back to the dealership 3 more times and reported it to insurance for payment. They finally did total it, to keep from have to keep paying for repairs.
Good luck!

I say just have the body shop put a Monroe shock back on. As far as the other problems just get the warranty to cover them. If they say it's not covered under warranty you will have the insurance claim to fall back on. Trying to have a body shop do mechanical fixes is like trying to get a car wash to do your laundry.
well, the next time the CEL light comes on, i'm going to bring it into the dealer and have them look at it... It hasn't came on since Saturday after resetting it with the scangauge. Same code thougH: P0441 and P0455..
All-
I hate to bring this thread back from the dead-
Still getting the same error codes: P0441 and P0455. I went to another dealer and got them to find that the gas cap and gas tank were not sealing correctly; so they replaced those two items.
On Sunday, the lights came back on, so I'm now back at the dealer and told them what happened. They are replacing the fuel neck and another filter I believe right now, and I will get the car back..
It's going back and forth and I'm very tired of this...
Do I have recourse to the insurance company to say that the repair was not properly done and that I can get this car totalled or is that option already gone since the repairs were made on it?
