Does Toyota have a key with the remote built in? That would be really cool.

I got my xB key copied at a hardware store on a regular cheapo aftermarket blank for a Toyota without the big head so I could carry a spare in my wallet...

The key is ILCO # TR-47. Toyota uses that blank for all kinds of stuff. Any dealer that stocks real Toyota blanks (not every dealer does since they're steel and only about 1% of customers actually care) should be able to set you up!

That WOULD be cool... I think it's been hashed over on here before, but I can't find it using

Any ideas, Alex?

YEAH, uh...well...yeah. Let me check some stuff out and see what's up, okay? I know the key will work, but the remotes probably won't. I'll let you know.

I don't think this key would work...It has a transponder chip in the key for a theft deterent system along with the keyless entry. There would need to be a way to deactivate the transponder chip and just use the keyless entry feature. But my gut tells me the transponder and the keyless entry are integrated onto the same chip/board.

???

As far as the transponder, the tC wont start without it, but it will not prevent an xb from starting if the key is cut for the xb

So, has anyone tried the tC integrated key / remote on an xB yet? Chopper, it sounded like you were going to.
