Default Leakage from the back

I have noticed lately that where the end of the back "door" is on the bumper there is a sappy liquid on my car all of the time and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions about it to what i should do or has anyone else experienced it. Thanx

Do you use your rear washer much? It could be washer fluid.

(You kids be quiet. I'm trying to be serious here)

I agree .. I would check the rear washer fluid line the runs into your hatch, it may be cracked or loose ...

Is the leakage chronic? Okay, that was a joke, but on a serious note. . . What color is it? Is it clear, black, or does it look like maple syrup? That could give us a little clue as to what it is. But I cant imagine the washer fluid bein sticky. So maybe its part of the latch where a little excess grease keeps drippin off? I dunno, but that would be my guess.

I've had the same thing happen to me a few times. In the summer when the temps here in phoenix were over 110 degrees and my car was parked with the back toward the afternoon sun I would find that some clear "stuff" had leaked out of the little weephole in the bottom of the hatch door. I am assuming it is grease, probably from the rear wiper. You may want to call the dealer and ask about it, but I just ignored it and kept cleaning it off. I haven't seen it for awhile since the temperatures are lower.

Conclusion: it's lube

New Beetles are somewhat known for waxy anti rust stuff leaking out of the doors in the hot hot hot weather, maybe it's similar stuff.

Chances are it is the sealer they spray in Toyotas.

I work for them building Corollas and we sprayed a hot wax into every crevace we could. Prevents rust, it is inside the fenders, doors, hood( bonnet for those english) tailgate ( rear hatch).

The stuff sorta resembles bee's wax, think thats what it made with. That and grease.

Does melt if it gets 100 plus inside the body panels.
