Default Looking at this 05. Advice please?

2005 Scion xB - NWautos

I just looked at this today, it's not in great cosmetic condition (well, I suppose it may not be in the best mechanical condition either - haven't test driven nor inspected it yet). It has 152k miles (mainly highway; owner used to transport espresso machine parts all over WA). Says he's gotten all his oil changes; new battery--not sure how new; fairly new tires--nitrogen; and the last major tune-up was @ 90k. IF it checks out with my grandpa (he knows tons more about cars than I), we're taking it to our mechanic at the Toyota dealership where he gets all his regular work done on the Camry.. but before I drop $170 on a PPI, does anyone recommend against it or have any advice on what more to ask the owner? I've tried reading around about when the timing belt should have been replaced, but if I'm not mistaken this has a chain, right?

Thumbs up

Yes, it is a timing chain. No belt. A lot of miles, but if taken care of properly, and mostly highway miles, as stated, it should have many more trouble free miles left in it. About time for a tune-up, i would think. If OEM plugs, with around 60K on them, the gap will be huge! Not the best for power, high MPG, smooth running, but it is definitely a simple fix.
Hope it works our for you, and no buried troubles are found.
