So I bought an '06 box about a month ago and I completly love it; but I've filled it up three times since then and I'm only getting between 22-25MPG (still better than the 17 I was getting with my old Camry) .
I drive mixed city/hwy and generally keep it under 3K RPM (AT) Any thoughts as to why I'm so far off the 30 mark?
Thanks!

Mine gets 31/ 32 mpg's no matter how I drive. I've also done mods to help boost it some so 30ish is about normal. 22-25, I would be having it checked out if it doesn't improve after break-in.
Daily driving for me is freeway usually at 85-90 at approx 4k rpm for 3-5 miles then city driving rest of the day... 23 mpg avg
(Is that still unreasonable even considering that i am a more "spirited" driver?)
I'm at 7900 miles, so my break-in is far from over. I've been thinking that maybe the MAF got messed up... but I haven't oiled my filter or anything which was what I heard was usually the reason that it could cause low MPG.

I have and '05 manual and my MPG varies depending on the season, which seems a bit weird, but I still get over 30mpg in mixed driving. In the summer, I usually avg about 35 mpg and in the winter it drops to 30-31mph.
Alarm bells are going off here. You're not getting all that good of mileage in your xB and only got 17 MPG in a Camry?? It has to be your driving style. Do you use the gas pedal and brake pedals like on/off switches?
Are you driving it until the low fuel light comes on and then refueling? Just so you know, the low fuel light generally will come on when there is approx 2 gallons of fuel left...My low fuel light generally comes on between 275-290 miles depending on my driving habits...The most gas I have put in the tank is 11.5, it's only a 11.9 gallon tank so I cut it pretty close...Since you have an auto (mines also an auto) and your saying you're cruising at the 3K rpm range you should be getting over 30mph...When your driving city, try slow and smooth...On the freeway, keep it at 75 (roughly 3K rpm's) and try driving atleast until your low fuel light comes on...Don't panic, you will still be able to drive another 60 miles or so after it comes on...The most miles I ever got of a full tank was 389...
Also, keep the tire pressures at the recommended level and check them often...

Do double-check your tire pressure, when they're cold. Toyota recommends 29psi for the stockers, but you could easily push that up to 36 and it'll help you get somewhat better mileage, at the expense of a somewhat harsher ride.
And, as always, keep an easy foot on the gas, and the brakes. Coast as much as possible. Keep a good long distance between yourself and the car in front of you, and you'll be able to coast instead of braking, and then gradually accelerate back up to speed again.
