Default Modifications/Changes: Advice, please.

I am a new owner (Monday, 3/31) of a stock 2005 Xb - automatic with 53k on it.. :D
Unfortunately, I am the ONLY person I know who owns one of these wonderful cars.

What accessories and modifications have you found to be practical and beneficial?
- I am not into superficial/cosmetic stuff.

Right now I am thinking that I would really like to have:
- Folding center arm rest
- Cruise control for all the highway driving I do.
- Fog Lights worthy of their name. (forgot this the first time I posted)

I have read about sway bars and strut tower bars, but don't know how much they add to the utility of the vehicle.

What would you suggest as MUST HAVES and in what order would you put them in for a new person to start working on?

Thank you for your help in "steering" me straight.

A Progress rear sway bar will do wonders for the handling. I cannot stress this enough. It's well worth the $160 or so.

You can get the cruise control here:

Here's the OEM armrest.

There's other useful stuff you can do, it just depends on what your overall goal is.

i am sorta the same way, i need mods that really give you the best bang for the buck.

i suggest you get a cheap laptop and navigation software (go to amazon.com , look at microsoft streets and trips with gps reciever) and you're set. you can connect the laptop to your stock sound system if it has the auxillary port so you can have navi commands/direction and music all playing thru ur factory speakers.

this has been my most favorite "addition" (although you can use it in other cars too...) ... for me, i felt the box was absolutely perfect as is and i didnt want to put more $ into the suspension, intake/header/exhaust, etc...

1. cruise
2. armrest

After that is is all about what you want yours to look like and how you want it to perform.

Mine handles better with 17" rims than the stock goodyears.

^ If you never put one in your car, you don't have one...
It's located behind the glovebox.

-If you want a brighter dome light here's a suggestion: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=213389

I have an older generation LED one from: http://www.leddomelight.com/. It's probably not as bright as the Oznium ones, but it is still miles ahead of the stock bulb. The Oznium ones are cheaper as well, I think.

The cruise and arm rest is a start. You next mod should be Monroe struts and shocks for a nicer ride. Also the Progress rear bar makes it handle better. The rest is up to you. Welcome to the xB family and enjoy your box.

Armrest. That was the first thing I noticed that was missing. Can't get a good "lean" without one!

I did the Boomerang armrest. 19 minute install. Looks factory installed and as a big benefit, gives you a lot of storage. The CD wallet is a bonus.

Of course, the Progress Sway bar, rims and a killer stereo will also add to your crusin' experience! Have fun modding your box.

Welcome and enjoy your automatic box! I love mines!

Exactly right, sure we might get some crap about the auto but it does have it's advantages. Especially in slow traffic and when the time comes to replace the clutch

I don't know how "practical" those items would be.
Fun?
YES! (even if I knew what you were talking about)
