Default More xB Check Engine Lights Woo's Again

To start my xB is about 3 months old with about 7k Miles on it. (Yes 7000 , I drive alot ).
About 9 weeks into driving it the check engine , trac , vsc lights came on. So I took my car in for service as it is still under warranty. It came out saying on the work order that they replaced the MAF. So its been about 3 weeks and the lights come back on without any warning . Im starting to wonder if my xB is a Lemon. The car is bone stock with the exception of the Viper Alarm / Remote Start. Any one having similar problems???

A bad MAF with no intake??? WOW

Makes me think there's a REAL problem with the air sensor on these cars...

There is a TSB that covers the trac/vsc/cel light. Seems to be a problem with a connection near the brake/clutch pedal and the steering column. Something about the security system.

You might want to look at that.

You might want to take it back where you had the alarm installed and have them take a look where they shoved all the wiring to make sure things arent binding.

Good luck

i was thinking maybe the alarm was causing the CEL But, the CEL has only turned on only when the car was in motion well after the car has warmed up and the alarm on the standby mode.
Ill ask Sound Advice to unplug the alarm brain if it continues CEL after the service this weekend.

If you follow the steering column down there is a ( I believe) a 4 prong connector(blue) wrapped in foam. This was the culprit, seems they mis-routed it at the factory causing a bad intermitten connection. The TSB just had them re route the wires to give a little more slack.

My lights came and went , didn't matter if it was alarm on, alarm off. Seems just the vibration from driving the car was enough to set it off.

The connector has something to do with the either the ABS system or the VSC system. Was told no real danger, yeah right, just a pita.

The link to the TSB has some how disappeared, must have been taken down ( big brother was watching.

Hope this helps you.

Well I have a apointment at the HeadQuater Scion on Sat 9am. Also I asked if their was a TSB on my car and they confirmed it. So I'll just have to be patient and hope that this fixes the CEL. I'll keep you guys posted.

I had the same problem with my xb, I found if you remove the maf and clean the probes with alcohol the problem goes away. This worked for me anyway, I have a cold air intake that was causing the maf to get dirty.

Hey guys
Little update I took the car in for service and was told that they had to order parts. The parts would be in on Tuesday. When I asked what parts were needed the rep said that he was unsure but that the tech did order them. Also he told me not to worry becuase he had three other xB's come in with same problem this week and that it was a simple fix. Also I got the Sales and Service manager involed (who happen to be a family friend).
I'll keep you guys posted.

Mr Wallabie,
Thank you for keeping us updated! Much appreciated, especially for me as we dont have Scion dealers in Canada so the mechs arent trained on how to work on them. Hopefuly the fix is somthing simple that can be fixed here and that I wont have to go to the US the way I did for my windshield.

Also, I didnt know this till the other day, but, there is a recall bulletin about how the xb has problems with gas nozzles at the gas staions and them clicking off (ie, when you have to hold the nozzle at 45 degrees or flip it upside down) Apparently, the dealership will replace the gas tank and filler tube for free because of this...
