Default my 2nd xB -- some questions

I have had my '06 scion (specs below) for about a month now. It replaces my '05. Here are some questions for you xB owners out there:

-My 05 came with pamphlet on using the headunit, My '06 doesn't have one - dealer is beating around the bush on that. Did your '06 have one? Anybody know where I could get one? Or view online/download?

-Base model head unit in my 06 has a AUX jack - but when I plug in my iRiver - no tunes. Don't really have any other DAPs to test it with - and I do have the 'AUX' selected on head unit - volume way up on my iRiver and head unit. Any tricks to getting this to play ? (manual would be useful here)

-What is ASL? My 05 headunit didn't have this mode - or I never found it. (damn where is that manual).

-Got the factory fog lamps. They only work when lights are all the way on - should they work when the marker lights are turned on? Should the on/off rocker switch have led or something that would make it visible in the dark (while dash board lights are on)?

-Both my 05 & 06 still spewed a small amount of AC/Heat from the dash vents even when I got the AC/Heat selector pointing to my feet. Does your xB do that?

-Gonna get an arm-rest for my xB. Seen a few after market ones - would love to hear some feedback on armrests in xBs - what works; what doesn't work.

-Gonna get some seat covers. Feeback would be great on what is good and not so good.

Thanks in advance...

my new '06 xB:
blue onynx
manual trans-monkey
factory alloys
dual sun-roofs
factory fog lamps
factory spoiler (soon)
factory bazooka sub

To answer a couple questions:

Everything normal there. Also, the fogs turn off when you turn your brights on.

Normal. Yes mine does it, and others do as well.

I have the OEM. Love it.

ASL is "Automatic Sound Level". It automatically raises the volume of your HU as you gain speed... to make it sound the same volume as wind and engine noise increases.

I didn't like it... it was too noticeable for my tastes, to I turned it off.

I have the iPod upgrade. HU will not select "aux" until a device is connected. If you can select aux, then its perhaps your cable? Not a mono (2 conductor) cable is it? Otherwise, your cable from the aux jack in the console to your HU may be disconnected?

I did get a thin manual for the radio. Can't remenber if its only iPod upgrade specifics. Not much info there. I can scan and send if you need it.

Hope it works out!

BTW, I have the Boomerang armrest. Super! Adds driving comfort and storage. $99 on eBay, EZ install.

with the AUX and an ipod for example....i had to crank up the volume on my ipod so i could get to hear it...its almost like they just vary so much in volume levels or something.

once i did that it was fine, keep in mind...and you may know this...but your ipod has full control, at least if you have same setup as me...the ipod itself controls the songs and such

Great thanks for input folks.

so far I got:

-my fog light operate normal (i guess my xB owner manual could have cleared that up too..)

-a little AC/Heat spew is normal

-I should dbl check my DAP and aux jack (and patch cable) - make sure the vol. way up, etc. Nope, I don't have the iPod head unit - just the base model - which has the AUX jack (FYI: I had a input converter in my 05 from log jam - to do this - worked pretty well).

-ASL is the sound level thing for hi-way driving.

-boomerang is an option for a arm rest - any other options?

-no comments on seat covers? I have seen/research cover kings and wet okole - any other suggestions/comments etc?

In the Ipod par of the post,

I am using a Nex iA player. I have the player on when I wire connect to my box. Volume has to be on all the way on the MP3 Player for the radio to "hear it". I then press the AUX button to switch to the MP3 player and the music starts playing.

Works good. Direct wire connect is a big improvement and better sound quality over the FM transmitter I had to use on the prior car.

wow... just out of curiosity(since i dont own a mp3 player or Ipod)..... do either of them have a "line out" jack??? not the same as your headphone jack.... line outs would be optimal in other cases.. like portable cd players etch... then you wouldnt have to worry about volume on your player then your HU....
just a thought....

I use the MP3 playere headphone output to the wire that goes into the XB input. No line output on my pocket MP3 player. I do have to turn up the MP3 player to almost full volume and the XB radio has to be turned up a bit.
