Default My car is in the shop until...AUGUST?!?!?!

Yeah...torn CV boot, plus whatever other damage that might have caused to the cv joint.

The dealership is telling me the part is on backorder until august. Basically, they won't be able to even get the CV boot/CV joint in until august. Seems a bit rediculous.

Anyone have a part number for any of this, or a suggestion on how to speed this up?

The whole summer without my car is a bit rediculous...

Wow, that is crazy! Is this a warranty repair? If so call Scion customer service & Toyota Cust serv. If not, then just call local shops.

Shouldn't take 4 weeks to get a half-shaft.

They're attributing it to a shoddy spring install, though, the guy that installed the springs showed me where the boot was off before he started installing the springs.

The thing about it. This car is like...not even a month old. I haven't even made my first payment on the damn thing. 1050 miles max.

But yeah, I've got it covered under warranty, but mostly because I know someone at the dealer, not because they want to.

Just got off the phone with the dealer. They reported it to scion as a brand new VOR.

They're trying to expedite the parts but I guess they say they're backordered. bleh.

Don't feel so bad, if they're giving you a rental you can always do this:

if its covered nder warranty, be patent. remember when the chevy trailblazers first came out? a month or 2 after their debuit, their was a recall on some suspenson components. they didnt have parts for those TB's for a few months.
parts can be on backorder if its something common.

when i worked for BMW, parts like control arms that would fail all the time they would be on back order for weeks or months. or direct from germany which would take 2-3 weeks

I find it very suspicious that they can't find the parts from their nationwide dealer inventory. Inorder to service you they should outsource the parts from Moog or some other brand. All they would need is your approval to use non Toyota parts. Sounds like they just want you to go away quietly. Check at another dealer but take off your springs first. I think they are blowing smoke you know where.

Springs are already on it. Like I said, they're covering it under warranty anyway. But yeah, they gave me ____ about the springs too.

Hamer.

Their service guys have been great so far...but that ETA of august just seems a bit far off for me. I don't know...

They've told me they reported it as a brand new VOR...but...still. I'd like my car back a bit sooner than that, you know?

August appears to be the latest though, they said they would probably get the part in much sooner. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

So you are willing to make payments on a car while it's sitting at the dealer for 2 months. That's Crazy
Did they say WHY won't they outsource the part so you can start driving it again. It just doesn't sound right.

I've still got my stock springs. Part of me wonders if I would have put them back on if they would have just given me a new car. you know?

No--they would not have given you a new car. Are they giving you a loaner? They are required to do so for waranty repairs.
