Default My First post

Hi all, this is my first post on this board, I am a proud new owner of a 2005 scion xA. I am selling my 87 CRX with a b16 swap for 4K so I will have some money to play with for modding the car. I have used the search tool and could not find the answer to my question. The first thing I plan for are going to be wheels and lowering the car, my only problem is that I dont quite understand how I am supposed to lower the back given the back does not have springs on it. Maybe someone here can clarify that for me.

Thanks,
James

it is a coil spring on a torsion beam rear suspension...
the number one thing you can do for handling is the rear anti-sway bar...

congrats and welcome...

please fill out your profile and registry when you get the chance...

Welcome to the boards James, you can get the info you need in the tech section. Also using the red search button is going to be your best way of finding answers to most of your questions. Again, welcome aboard!

Why not?
I have 42 offset rims, they look fine.

lol, that was my next question, the proper offset was gonna search for it but if you guys wanna take a crack at it will the tien S springs with the 1.1 drop and a set of 17" wheels look good? and all I was going to as is what is the proper offset to get them to tuck?

edit...tuck w/o rubbing

and by looking good, will the 1.1" drop and 17" wheels leave me with lots o' fender gap??

Welcome to the site. A range of 22mm-45mm or so is the max you can do. You can go less then 22mm, but then you get the tire out of fend look & to me thats ugly. The 45mm is on the high end with a chance of rubbing. I would say for looks & the right stance, try to get around a 32mm off set. The springs you listed, from what I have read are a good choice & can be had for about $170 or so.

Take your money else where. That is a POS intake system. It might be cheap, but it does truley follow the old saying "you get what you pay for". Look into spending a little more on something like the Injen or K & N. Just browse through some of the sites listed in my sig, the ones that look like a car parts site that is

tein s-techs on ebay can be had for around 150-155 shipped, looking at those springs which will drop it 1.7" and putting on tsw kyalama rims in hyperblack and 215-40 tires

I didnt think it was that cheap, its $250 for the intake, then another 50 for the ram air adapter, for $300 its crappy?

most people seem to prefer the Injen short ram intake or the k&n typhoon cai (what i've got). i got my typhoon for around 185 shipped on ebay, and i love it! also i have the tein s-techs mentioned earlier, and they gave me the exact kind of drop i was looking for, extremely noticeable without interfering with the "streetable-ness" of the car

welcome to scionlife, best of luck to ya!
