if you're under 35 and driving automatic, you're lazy!! Roll On Floor Laughing that goes for you too ladies..
That's a pretty bold statement but everyone is entitled to their opinions.. So I guess people with manuals are better drivers then right? More hardworking? Wow I wonder if you can back this up.. If you're saying people with auto's are lazy because all they have to do is step on the gas and you manual drivers are so much better than us auto drivers because to use their arm/hand to shifts gears. Man.. we should alert the media!! Big "f'in" deal...stick or auto don't matter.. just enjoy driving...

nope i havent driven an auto box. maybe it's good but like the threadstarted stated, i am probably where he was 20 years ago and thinking auto = lazy.

so i'll make the following opinionated blanket statement:

if you're under 35 and driving automatic, you're lazy!! that goes for you too ladies..
I'm over 35 but only got an auto cause everything else I drive is a stick. I also plan on having the box forever and couldn't see myself rowing gears into my 70's.

I (well my credit union's auto buying service) is haveing a heck of a time finding a base model 5speed for me as well. I'm not paying $125 for an armrest, $260 for an iPod adapter (which I don't own), and $350 for fog lights (not too much fog when I drive in San Diego). That is $735 on nonsense that could take a big chunk out of the price for a coilover setup or sound system. Right now it's either a decked out RS4 (which I want) for $17,500 or a less equipped BSP for $14,700. A BSP and $3000 is starting to sound pretty appealing, but I like the RS4's uniqueness.

When I went to the dealer (Scion Chula Vista) had about 12 or so xBs a week ago, didn't see a white one, mostly greys and a blue with 3 RS4s. 50/50 auto & manual.

Funny, when I look at the RS04 All i see is nonsense.. Paint and foo foo is what you are paying 2 grand extra for?? the only release series I saw that was worth paying extra for was 3.0. Then again it only goes to show you how much color and perception count in decison making.

Nah, I just learned to work smarter not harder.. You learn as you get older not to beat yourself up so much and do things with a bit more purpose.

Ferrari? Corvette? Porsche? Even a Miata... all meant to be driven with a manual transmission

Otherwise, give me a Auto.

We have 2 scion dealerships near omaha, one has no xBs and a ton on xAs and the other has about 4-5 xBs one of which is a RS4. As for auto vs man its a personal thing, no one has the same wants and needs in a car. I bought a 5 speed because I've never owned one and I drive it to work 30 miles a day, its more fun. And i did drive both auto and 5speed, and I took two of my friends the auto had no guts and felt way under powered, the 5speed way still underpowerd but i felt more in control of the full 92hp. lol

Exactly right except RS1.0 was my favorite with the RS3.0 running a close second. The RS4.0 was just a waste. They can't give them away.

take the $3000 and make the BSP unique on your on.

And call me "lazy" cause I wanted an auto, and I am 24 years old.

My fiance just picked up an xB this past Wednesday and there were only two automatics on the lot. I'm looking at trading in or selling my tC and getting a box myself but it's getting to be slim pickings. I am amazed at the resale value of xB's - 35K '05 for $16 grand! Is this just because of supply and demand? What about when the new xB comes out? How many people do you think will trade in their old boxes for new ones? Maybe I'll wait until then to get one.

That is pretty much the route I'm going to go... $3000 gets me a spoiler, and custom "1 of 1" BigJefe series badging.

We bought our xB last week in Central Illinois. The dealer had one used white manual on the lot... I think an 05' listed at 16,999.
We wanted a red or blue manual, but said we would take an automatic.. They couldn't locate either within 200 miles... We settled on a Torched Penny automatic from a dealer 60 miles away... Had to pay for the release series, but it included some options we were going to get anyway..... so we paid maybe a grand more than planned....
But the color is nice. Wife likes it and it's her car. But xB's are getting rare here, and we did not like the looks of the 08 model... So figured it's now or never even if it did cost a bit mort than planned.

I love the feel of the gearbox and the whole shifting experience in the xB. And I have rented many a little 4-cylinder slushbox and find them annoying.
If shifting becomes work, by all means get an automatic. You just have to do what you like.

If anyone finds driving their 5 speed xB "work" I would like to know what kind of day job they have...

Are these the same type of people who bought that automatic shifting bicycle that I see on late night infomercials because the could never find the right gear and didn't want to be hassled by the whole shifting operation?

Why dog people for wanting autos? For me it's a nice escape from manually shifting. Kind of a pleasure to just push the gas and go and push the brakes and stop. Call it a vacation from the usual "grind" har har har.

I guess I got lucky, I found the exact xB I was looking for at a dealer only 4 miles from where I live(Scion Chula Vista). The wife and I finally decided we were going to get one and two days later we had it in our driveway.

I bought my xB as an auto mainly because I wanted something that can be driven without too much of a hassle by myself and my wife(she can't drive a manual). Don't get me wrong I love manual transmissions but it's not like the xB is a performance car so an automatic suits me just fine.

My Camaro SS is a 6 speed manual and there is no way in hell I would have gotten one with an auto, however driving it in stop and go traffic in San Diego for 10 months before I got the xB got real old. Sometimes it takes 30-35 minutes to drive 10 miles home from work which just sucks. My left knee is screwed up too so that doesn't help matters too much.

yeah the stop and go sometimes sucks but its cake with the xb.. the clutch pedal only moves a total of what, 4 inches? and it's so light it takes barely any effort so i dont mind driving it in traffic.. and i live in north jersey, the most congested, overpopulated area in the united states. I find the box clutch softer and easier than a honda/acura clutch, and if you've driven one of those you know what i mean.
