Default My xB is Dead!!!

Just go hit about 3 hours ago on 35wN pretty ____ty. Here are some pics.

FRONT

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...1/smashedxb.bmp
REAR

Any support will be helpfull
Here's what happened

Well traffic on 35 had stopped, so i was stoped then i looked in my rear view and saw this wise ___ mn driver coming about 55 right into the back of me. he hit me then i smashed into the truck in front of me.
Yes i have full coverage but it doesn't matter cause im filing damage through his company. No injuries, as of yet. except the car. But all in all this sux!

the damage
cant open my rear doors, the rear seats are spread apart from the body being bent, the rear bumper and support is smashed, hatch is smashed and cannot be opened, the frt bumper and support is smashed,
and it creased the frt qutr panel, hood is really hard to get open, and my exhaust is all smashed up. so thats all the damage i could see. And from what I've heard is that most insurance companys will total a car out
if it has more than 3 body panels/ parts of major damage can anyone verify this point. . but I will let you guys know whats gonna happen to it.

You got hit by someone going 55? The damage doesn't look that bad if that's the case but it's hard to tell from the pics. Get a police report and go to the doctor. You can probably get a settlement as well if that's what you're after. Glad you're ok though, that's the important part that nobody got hurt.

I am sorry your xB got wacked.
WTF hit you?

I'm glad your OK.
You really should go to the doc and get checked out just to be safe.
Many years ago I got wacked and ended up with neck problems
because I never got it checked out at the time of the accident.

Hey-

Thought I'd jump in here since I have some experience in the bodyshop industry & preliminary estimate writing.

First & foremost--- Glad to see you're still with us.

The "rules" very slightly from state to state and even from insurance company to insurance company. However, usually a vehicle is considered a total loss if the cost of the repair is anywhere from 60 - 75% of the retail value of the vehicle.

Example:

If a vehicle retails for $20,000 and the cost of the repair is $12 - 15 thousand, the vehicle is likely to be totaled. Also, a vehicle can be considered a structural total if a non-serviced part of the vehicle is damaged beyond repair. Often the vehicle is pretty much a monetery total by that point anyway, though.

If your rear doors wont open, your quarters (& possibly floor) are obviously pushed forward and most likely down, judging from the rear photo. If the roof buckled at all, she's certainly a gonner. To be honest, if you can't open the rear doors and your rear seats are affected, she's probably not going to make it my friend.

Almost any vehicle can be repaired, it's when it is no longer cost effective or safe that the vehicle becomes a Total Loss.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. If I don't know, I can most likely find out.

Mike

Sorry to hear that man.

We have the same problem in WI. Doods who can get their 4WD truck/SUV going really good on slick roads but seem to lack the understanding that the 4WD does not make them stop faster. (slower in reality with all that weight)

Well, that may be true, but I had $12,000 damage done to my new Beetle in 2003. And it was not totaled, despite the car only retailing for $18,000.

Of course, living in FLORIDA may have something to do with that.

Hope it turns out for you.

That sucks about the crash man Oh yah! the crash effect is a new toyota curse. Don't know what it is really. In 2003-2004 a whole bunch of new corolla owners have been getting into crashes or totaling the car.

Hell look at vamps car on vvti. That crap has been through hell :?
