Default My xB Project (will update as I go)

Hey all I just bought a salvaged '05 xB, and I need to open the rear door(battery dead) I ordered a new battery so this won't be an issue soon, but I was wondering, is there a manual way to open the rear door or something? I looked all over inside, but since I have had the car less than a day I don't know where they might hide that.

thanks in advance for any help, and nice to be a part of the boards

There is, but its a real pain in the ___.

In the manual (if you have it) you will find a page about it, you have to remove the back panel and than you will find the switch you desire, I think it should be red. Good luck with that!

It'd be easier to just hook up some jumper cables then open the hatch.

it is a real pain in the butt to remove the black trim pannel on the hatch, specially when the hatch is closed.. a helpfull tool is a door pannel puller.. usually they are made of teflon or some other semi hard material that wont scratch paint.
best thing is jumper cables..

I never even thought of jumping it with another car :D

Since it hasnt been asked, why on earth was this xB salvaged to begin with?

That's OK It wasn't my first thought either. I actually thought about hooking up a battery charger to the cables to supply enough juice to open the door.
I'd also like to know the reason that caused it to become salvaged. Too many idiots are crashing classic xBs.

It was driven over a curb. Rims detroyed, tires gone, and the Cv arm and a few minor other things. I got it for dirt cheap, and with maybe $3000-$4000 Ill have a basically new car for a lot less than....well a new car.

Thanks for the help with the door thing, I got a battery now so no biggie. I will have to try and find an owners manual though.

It always amazes me how owners manuals disappear. What good are they unless they are with the car they belong to???

Now you just have to get some pics up before you start workin on it, nothing is more fun than watching a restoration in progress!

X2... I'm curious at how much damage happened from crubing all 4 wheels along with the other carnage. Should be interesting. BTW, may I ask how much you picked it up for. I'd love to get one for real cheap and rebuild it for the fun of it. Thanks

Ok guys here ya go. This is how it was delivered to me. (thats a whole other story I will have to tell when I have more time)

And see anything missing on this pic?? (psst the whole damned drive shaft!)

There are also some brake lines that need some work, and I am hoping the clutch is ok. Other than that and some body panel damage, well and reeking like a wet dog for some reason inside it, its a great looking car.

I bought some deodorizer and the smell is about half what it was, so a few more dousings and it should be good inside.

As far as the curbing and the wheels, they are all 100% destroyed. 1 of them I took off, and when I spun it around, literally 50% of the WHOLE rim was gone. I'm not sure how it managed to roll when we pushed it into the driveway.

Oh here is a pic of the new wheels I put on it for now. I got all 4 wheels and tires for $195. Pretty damned cheap for 18"s if you ask me.

Thanks for the link, is that an '04 or '05 manual? Or doesn't it really matter?

That is a whole other story hehe, my GF didn't know I bought it.

It showed up the day after I bought it from Utah, to my house. LUCKILY the GF was out that night, and for some odd reason my neighbor wanted me to park it in her driveway.

Well the next night I told the GF, and today is the 1st day she has talked to me.

Thing that sucks is the guy told me it wouldn't be delivered for 10 days, and it was supposed to be delivered to my work. Imagine my surprise when the doorbell rang and there was a huge car hauler in front of my house with the xB on it.

Well shes still mad, but at least I get to keep the car and fix it up!

I'm curious why your GF isn't feeling the love for the xB that you do. If she is Jealous already it will only get worse once you start spending countless hours working on and modding it to make it "yours". Might be a sign from the Scion Gods Bro! Good Luck!!! You will need it my friend.
