Default My XB should be in soon. How to keep bugs off?

Hey everyone.. Hopefully, my xB should be in a couple weeks.

My question is, what do I need to keep the bugs off the front end of it?? What are my options (bra, clear cover, etc..)?

What are your suggestions to help with this?? I dont want bugs all over the front end of it and damage the paint..

what i would do is fab up a citronella bracket off the grille. hang a candle on it and it should effectively keep them away i think......
if that doesnt work then just take precaution and swerve to miss them.

haha sorry im no help i dont know if it can truley be stopped. just clean them off when you see them and they wont stick. avoiding them will be tough. good luck with that

If you don't want the bra, I find that keeping a really high quality wax job makes it much easier to clean them off.

Not much of a front end mask person here....

Just buy alot of those sticky tapes and wrap them all over your front grill, then just remove the tape once a week.

j/king....just get used to washing the box at least once a week.

Wow, we have a few smartasses in here, dont we??

Well, if you want to give a SERIOUS answer, please do.. I'm mainly looking to keep bugs and rock chips off.

I posted a link to an E-Bay auction.. Is that what I need and is the price good?

Yeah we are all smart ones here . As for your question it seems like thats what you would be looking for. I dont know about the cost though. All that will do is keep the bugs from your front end, still need to get them off the windshield once in a while. The main thing to think about to is when it rains & snows you will need to take that cover off to let it dry or you could get some mold going under that thing.

Wasn't trying to be mean to you, just joking around trying to have fun. Your best bet so to keep bugs off the front of the car is to get the front end mask for it. But eitherway u still have to wash the mask as much as u would wash the front end of your car. Id say theres no real to keep bugs or rock chips from hitting your xB if u are a common highway driver.

ps. I think its a general guideline for Scion owners to all be smart asses

6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other ......... with a bra on the car you have to clean the bra as much as you would the front end and also hope the bra doesn't "flap" and leave marks on the paint. There was another post about a T-Bra some people were raving about on this site.

With the clear 3m film, you have to worry about a dirt line forming along the edges of the film. Light colored car, it's very noticable.

I'm a "keep the car cleaned and waxed and learn to deal with bugs and chips" kinda guy. Not lookin for perfection ... just lookin to keep it lookin good.

I was being a smartass because there is almost no way to stop rock chip and bugs from the front end. You learn to live with it. I mean even if you stopped it from the front end you start to find them everywhere. Somehow I got some on the side skirts...even on the top panel by the back window.

Be sure to stay out of Louisiana during "love bug" season.

I don't know if there is a way to keep the bugs off the front of an XB, mine gets covered with them, and it drives me nuts. But my solution is to kepp it waxed and wash it once or twice a week, and i dont have any problems.

I read some posts about the front plastic air dam made noise. If you are serious I would suggest a cloth bra.

that tape will look much worse after a few months as it starts to peel up and dirt gets under the edge. [ I think you will need a NASCAR pit crew to keep it looking good ]

I had a local scion owner tell me about noise from his Weathertech bug shield. I was concearned because mine was getting painted at the time.

After install, there is no noise, except when wet. Somthing to to with the rain beading up at the edges or something.

Follow the link below to see pics of it installed and painted.

PS I also have always had that Thule bike rack. Maybe the noise all blends in and I don't know it?

I guess I phrased the question wrong.

I was just curious what was the best way to keep damage to the front end down to a minimum.. I have a TransAm as my summer car and it attracts bugs like none other. And if you get a MONSTER bug, it'll leave a chip..

I was thinking atleast with the 3M cover it'll keep the dings down to a minimum.. I know it'll get on the windshield.. I'm mainly just concerned about the bumper and grill.

There is an auction on E-Bay for the whole 3M front end for $165.. Does that sound about right?

After washing the bugs off the front of my xB daily for a couple of weeks, I decided to go with a bra. Ordered the Colgan full bra directly from Colgan. $109.00 delivered. Fit is extreemly tight and there's no flap at 70 - 80 mph. With the bra on the car, I sponge the bugs off now - takes 30 seconds. Colgan warantees the bra for 5 years. Plus, they really look good on the car. The cheap bra's out there really look cheap.

the hassle with bra's though is that you can't keep them on the car all the time. You really should only use them on the highway. Dirt, etc can get trapped under them and there goes your paintjob.
