Default new car backfiring?

My 3 wk. old xB has backfired twice. I'm taking it in tomorrow (Tuesday.) Any ideas what's wrong?

like "pek pek pek POW!"? As far as I know, all cars backfire. The resonator/muffler just makes them less noticeable.

Where do you get gas usually?

sounds like the spark plugs are not working right or it may be that one of the coilpacks is defective and allowing enough spark to the plugs.

It's only happened 2 times. It kinda sounds like you drove over something and made it pop... like a balloon or container. It doesn't go "putt, putt" It's not a really loud bang. I heard it one time and thought I hit something. Dh heard it the other day and said it was the car behind us... until I told him I had heard it before. That's when he told me to call the dealer.

Ok, the dealer hooked the car up to the computer and it said that there wasn't anything wrong. The car isn't actually backfiring. If it were the engin light would come on. (It hasn't) I guess they even called other technitans about it (there was some sort of service thingie about it.) and were told that it was in the exaust system and caused by it "flexing." ??? This is just something that happens sometimes in xBs and other cars and is not a cause for concern.

You guys ever heard of this and know what it is???

i think flexing has to do with the pipes heating up / cooling down and expanding and causing it to pop or resettle itself in the places the pipes join. If its giving you a problem, take it to another dealer and get a second opinion. Personally, i would probably do that, i wont settle with just one person tellin me that.
