New Car Choice
It's official that my XB is totalled. Everything should be finalized in a couple days and I'll be out shopping for a new car. I really like the new XB but I like the new Civics also. They are pretty close in price and options. The biggest differences that I'm concerned with is gas mileage and space. The Civic gets 10 more MPG and I drive 120 miles a day so that would equate to a savings of $53 a month. The new XB has more room but I don't use a lot of space these days. The other cool thing about the XB is that since it's a 2008 it's pre-new until next January.
I need some input to help make my decision. Please keep it constructive and not just bashing Hondas because you have a Scion.

xB2. Compare insurance rates. The xB2 should be cheaper due to standard ABS, VSC, TRAC, and side curtain airbags. I think state farms still classify the xB range as a station wagon.
How about the Subaru Impreza Wagon? Starting price is $18,620 (manual tranny w/D&Dcharge). Almost same MPG as the xB2 but AWD. Standard audio setup is weak. No AUX or IPOD port.

I'd say xB2. It just like all scions come standard with all the goodies unlike Honda. With Hondas they come standard with the side airbags n abs but not a/c , What the hell? I also heard with the civic that they don't get anywhere near there mpg rateings which is dissapointing. Unless Honda has a special on Civics I dunno, I mean the 2007 Corolla LE has $1,000 off might wanna check that out.

Chadfo> I think I would go for the Civic, maybe even a hybrid... seriously dude, maybe get a a used one if you re going to drive so much... Otherwise, I'll vote for the xb2.. I like the style of it, and you'll save on insurance for sure... but im not too sure your insurance costs vers fuel savings will be..
Midtowndesi> Geezz .. $2500 for the box? I was complaining about paying $1200 a year for the xB in San Francisco, but I

Yow. Well, looks like it might be the Civic, then. I like the styling on the xB, but 10 mpg is 10 mpg. But be sure you're compaing 2008 EPA mileage estimates for both cars. The 2007 and prior EPA numbers will be substantially higher.

Now don't get me wrong I love my box but there are times I wish I had picked the civic. I like standing out and everything but the speedometer on the civic is just too bad ___. 10 mpg in the current world is a lot, and always will be, so I'd say pick the car that will last in the long run. We all know that Honda's and Toyota's last a couple hundred thousands of miles so you don't need to worry about it too much. That and if you still want to mod the civic mods are starting to go away from the ricer look so you could do other things too now.

Wow! The vote is 50-50 right now.
Thanks for everyone's input! My wife and I talked it over at great length last night and we decided to get a new XB. I'll lose a little in gas mileage but she could tell I really loved the new XB when I test drove it.
I'm staying in the family!
