Default New to the Scion!

Whats up guys!?

My name is Heath and I am very new to the xb but not new to the import scene. I am very interested in getting a new xb and I am hoping you guys can help me with some answers. I see that the Scions are powered by the Echo engine. Is the block capable of high WHP numbers? I see that the Curb weight is really low for such a car. Do you guys have any quams on the weight? And lastly...I currently have a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT 6-speed. I have Ceramic 3-1 Headers, injen CAI, Full cat. back 2 1/2'', a stage 3 clutch and am currently running a 14.8 1/4 time. Do you guys think the xb is capable of such 1/4 times with a Forced Induction set up with upgraded Fuel delivery and exhaust? Basicly how much is it gonna cost to get a Scion xb manual into the 14's?

Thanks in advance for your very useful help!

So i am guessing that the "Hot Lava" is a limited production scion color thus your #1359. And what is a RS 1.0?

Seeing as how the 5spd runs in the 17.3 second range for the 1/4 and the auto in the higher 18's, I'd say quite a bit of work would be needed to get it up to par with a 14 sec. Start with the basics of course - intake and exhaust, perhaps a cam if one is even in production, and then a super/turbocharger with a small shot of nitrous. That should get you into the 14's, definitely 15's and possibly even a 13 if you nail it perfectly. Of course, drivetrain mods will be in order, and probably the upgrading of some engine components to handle the newfound zoomage But hey, it should be well worth it on the street when that GT or Z28 full of teens starts messing with you and then you keep right beside them till your speedo runs out

So im taking it that no one in the world has gotten a scion xb into the 14s? If so is there a place I can view it to see what they did to keep it in good running condition. I guess the bottom line is, " its still a echo"..hope i didnt offend anyone, i am just a speed freak! Well thanks alot for your guys imput. The scions are DEF a cool ___ car. If I was not such a HP junkie id have one already. I just cant go from a 14.8 to a 17.3! But then again for 14,000 what do you expect!

Congrats on all you efforts on your xb's!

IF you are heavy on speed I would reccomend on waiting for the tC, the xB will only let you down...anything can be fast with the right budget... but the tC will have a huge headstart!

xB 5spd $14,165, Blitz Supercharger $2,800 +$400 install, Cat Back exhaust $319 = around 165 hp at engine should put you right around low 15 second range for only $17 grand and change. Find another 15 HP and you would be in the 14/'s!

Default 14 seconds

hey guys...i got a Black sand 04 xB. I bought the supercharger ($3400 installed), replace all the body panels with fiberglass panels, carbon fiber hood, ( takes about 300 or so lbs fromt he curb weight) duel ehaust, and aem cold air intake...toped the quater mile at 14.5...not to shabby. As long as you keep the wieght low and the horsepower up ( i got mine from 108 to 169) you can get in the 14's.

Hey Heath....welcome to the boards.....I wish you could been at MIR with us last Friday.....we ran high 18's with just intakes and exhausts with auto on a very cool night.....don't know what a man would run..... but with headers, exhaust, intake and either turbo or super charger I think running in 15's is very doable, added nos and changing boost might get you into the 14's ......I don't know got to see it first ...... I like the idea of a BOX RACER....I'll let you know the next time we're heading to the tract...it was a lot of fun and besides the Scion there were some silly rides there....do you know where MIR is?????......where do you live in Maryland?

How did you get that slow pig running 14s? Jeez!

Anyway, stock... a couple of people (I included) have run 16.2-16.4. Faster than Civic DX/LX/EX.

I dont think it'd be a problem to get 14.8's out of a scion with some boost.

Thanks again for the feedback guys. I life in Carroll County so most of the time we go to Capital or 75/80. Why do I want a new car? Well it looks as though its going to turn out that I am going to keep the GT and buy a Scion as well. The xb looks so cool to cruise in and I think i got the speed thing covered in the Tib and my start to venture into things like Air ride..20'' rims.. and Sound systems with the xb. It looks like this things going to be a whole lot cheaper to look hot than go faster.
Thanks again!
