New Vitz is coming to Canada
From the Toronto Star, April 2, 2005......
Article
Or just the text...
Vitz previews all-new 2006 Echo
Small car already in Japanese showrooms
Canadian models will get 8 km/h bumper
GERRY MALLOY
Toyota Canada has confirmed that the next-generation Toyota Echo, sold in Canada, will be derived from the new Vitz, already on sale in Japan.
The Echo and its European counterpart, the Yaris, probably will share body structure and much of their appearance, although the company says only that the little cars will use the same Vitz platform.
Among the changes necessary for the Canadian market will be a front-bumper structure that can withstand our unique 8 km/h damage standards.
The next-gen Echo is expected to arrive here late this year as a 2006 model.
Looks like this means no new Vitz as xA replacement.

I thought I found the right pic.
There was a dealer Vitz in Okinawa that was a bright blue that look slightly different than these pics... it seemed to have sharper edges... I thought it looked ok, but it just didn't grow on me.
If Suzuki ever releases the Wagon R in the US, I'll be giving the xA to the wifey... I've always wanted a Wagon R but they were just a little too expensive for me.
