Default Is the new xB key Fob compatable with the Old xB?

Can anyone answer this question? I went to my local Dealership- Vacaville, CA and they could not give me a exact answer, they were like maybe or we dont know. I know for a fact that the key shaft (the Male Part that goes into the ignition, door, etc...) is exactly the same on both the xB 1 and xB2 just need to be cut according to the car, I just want to know if the remote is programmable for the old xB also.

Would be nice to have a all in one key like the newer cars.

Thx

so can you use the new xb key fob with the buttons right on the key, on the old xb with a security system?

well, since the old xb doesn't have an engine immobilizer, so long as the key matches, it would open the doors and start the car, but programming the key to remote lock/unlock...sounds like it could be a complicated operation to make it work.

all i know is the directions to program the tC key fob (exactly the same as the newxB fob) is exactly the same as the two piece old toyota cars to have the remote door locks. Plus I want to make sure that its possible before I buy a useless key for my old xB

just try to program the fob you already have from your xB2 to the xB1 to know if it can be done.

Does the new XB2 have an engine immobilizer??? Or is that only part of the alarm system?

Default Using on Key Remote with gen one xB

I was told it would not work. this remote is thesame as the tC on key remote and this doesn't work with gen 1 xB. they are different and not compatible. Never actually tried it so if it works let me know.
