New xB owner, bad Scion experience
I can understand the concern with the wheels , even with no warranty who would want to pay that much for wheels then bend or crack one and have to buy a whole new aftermarket set anyway because the original ones are discontinued? That’s not cool, and I would be very upset...
If I were you, I would cancel the TRD package then order some hot package mounted and balanced online somewhere and save the other $1000 beans!!!
My other concern is that TRD (TOYOTA racing development) developed these wheels for the scion. the fact that Toyota doesn’t support its own products is ridiculous , However they have found the problem and are trying to fix it , so I give them credit, now if I were a guy with the wheels , I would be concerned... Just my thoughts

Don't mad at "Moe." As everyone said, he was just doing his job. I would be mad at the dealer!!!! As a dealer mayself, he should have told you what to expect. ANY, not just TRD, wheels OVER 18" will void your vehicles warranty.....It states right in you warranty book that you got with you car. You salesman, if he had any integrity, should have told you that. All I can say that I do because it is only fair. As for TRD rims being discontinued, the answer is yes. They are no longer available due to quality issues. Ohh, same thing goes for the strut tie bar for the tC.
Any questions let me know

Dude that sux a##. I was told to read this post, and I am glad I did now. Sorry to hear about you misfortune, but it's a learning tool for the rest of us that were contemplating putting the TRD wheels on an xB or any other Scion. I liked the look of the 18" but since Toyota does not have a waranty on the parts, and since they are not avaible any more I guess I'll find another set of rimx.
R
P.S. Does anyone know the lug pattern for an xB. It's 4x(something), but I don't know the second number. Any help is appreciated.

WOW, the wheels aren't covered by a warranty?!?!?! NEWSFLASH!
Duh, what did you expect, that once you hit a pothole or curb your wheel you could take it back to the dealer and get a new one? Riiight.
The dealer also can't automatically void your warranty based on what size wheel you get. It has to be proven that your aftermarket part is directly involved in a failure.

4x100, 38 mm offset. And I think the TRD rims are Racing Hart RH GTS

I think it's funny that people bought these wheels in the first place. I would have rather had the OEM alloys but since that is an optiontoo I declined that. For less than the price of TRD's I went ahead and got Works. They my only be a 17 front and back but they are low offset for that flush with the fender look with a really nice dish. I think Toyota should get rid of the steelies(they are reserved for the sportback bB in Japan) and leave the alloys as standard. Now I laugh seeing people sell their TRD wheels and buy new ones and they still have to pay for the TRD wheels.

I say leave it to companies like KMC to picture the vehicles with tricked out rims. While legally Scion is doing nothing wrong of course, an argument can me made that they may be misleading consumers be using these kinds of images in their marketing.
After all, do they advertise the Bowflex machine with a 250 pound female model?

Greetings from Scion!
Again, this is to just dispel any myths or rumors regarding the decision to discontinue the TRD rims.
1) TRD wheels for xA and xB and tC are being discontinued due to the competitive nature of other aftermarket wheel suppliers who are able to offer more choices. The aftermarket already offers an expansive variety of wheels from which customers can choose. For now, TRD will shift their Scion accessory focus from wheels to more performance-oriented parts, such as superchargers, suspension and exhaust parts. They will use this time to evaluate their involvement in the plus-size wheel market.
2) Please see assured that NO safety issues led to the discontinuation of these wheels.
3) Wheels that have already been sold and are on customers’ vehicles are warranted for manufacturer-caused conditions and defects in the quality of the workmanship of the material.
xA and xB: The 18-inch wheels fall under a 3yr/36k mile warranty, the 19-inch wheels did not come with warranty.
tC: The 19-inch wheels for tC fall under a 3yr/36k warranty.
Replacement parts are still available for any warrantable concerns.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call Scion directly at 866-707-2466.
Thanks!

I just got by xB yesterday, and the dealer here in Reno, NV let me order whatever wheels I wanted and whatever stereo I wanted. So I ordered an alpine that I can control my iPOD with and then order some 18". And all this was put into the total price. All I am waiting for is the stuff to show up.

Yay.
Good luck man, they had better take the money out of your loan (upside is you'll get a smaller payment).

On one hand, no one should really expect a dealer to replace a wheel every time some inexperienced kid nails a pothole- they'ed go out of business do to a few dumb kids, or they would just go out and bend their wheels whenever they curbed them so they could get new ones (look how many used curbed wheels are always for sale on this website) Most of these vehicles are owned by kids and most kids havn't learned to drive well yet.
On the other hand, I thought Scion was supposed to be the big "youth marketing" brand. The cool company. Tuner cars, meant to be modded and supported by the dealer. I remember when the brand was unveiled at the Detroit auto show a few years ago and there was a whole catalog of parts from tuner companies that were going to be available for the car when it came out. Heck, they displayed fully tricked out vehicles from Montegi and Pioneer, and advertised it as when these things came out, you would be able to do all this stuff to make it yours (personalization starts at $xx,xxx- sound familiar?) right at the dealer and retain your warranty.
I would imagine that is why they are doing away with the bigger wheels. Not enough sales and the ones that did buy them expected them to be covered by the dealer for the premium price they were paying. Then when they can't do it, you are going to get posts like this on the internet. Better off for them not even dealing with it, rather than getting a bad rep over it.
I didn't understand why people would pay so much for wheels anyway, only to have the same "custom" wheels as every other schmo leaving the stealership.

When my buddy who works at the Toyota/Scion dealership told me TRD is coming out w/ a supercharger for the xB, i was like HELL YEAH! Went to the dealership they told me "it's covered under a warrenty, but not released as of yet" then to find out he was right, it is under warrenty, for the supercharger itself..... but voids every bit of warrenty on my box. So if stuff breaks, atleast i can get the supercharger replaced..... F That is right. I'm gunna keep my baby bone stock, just pimp the inside, and use it as a daily and when funds are avalible, its off to buy an STi baby!
