new xb owner needs help
hi all, new to forum. i will be ordering a new box in may or june and have a few questions. if i get an auto is that ugly shifter the only thing they offer or do i have to get a manual to get the other shifter ***** they offer?
and how loud is the sport muffler they offer, i have a 64 ford with 351w and flowmasters and am getting tired of the loudness, and dont want my box to be too loud.
and the dealer where i test drove one said they are discontinueing the black cherry color, anyone else heard that?
and do the lowered springs they offer lower it enough to notice?
i know this is a lot of questions but i am so excited for spring to come around, dont want to order now and have all the road salt on it right away.
thanks!

Hey, hep, they are discontinuing the Black Cherry after 2005. Sorry. As far as I know, the auto shifter is the only one you can get. The manual gets the cool short shifter and other toys.
I STRONGLY recommend that you get all of you extras aftermarket because Toyota overcharges by about 300-500%. There are several websites where you can buy Toyota/Scion brand parts and several folks on this list, in your area, who can help you install them.
RE: lowering springs, ost people get bigger tires when they lower so the drop can be the same. Others have lowered to the extreme. There are several fantastic photos on this site (and links) to show what people have done with their boxes.
Do a search on this site to see about color changes for 2006. A few colors will be d/c'd and some new ones added. I don't like many of the new colors that will be added and I will miss the BCP. Its a cool color (my fiance has a BCP xA).
Hope this helps! BTW, I'd get one sooner than later, its gonna go through years of snow, one more won't kill it...

I have the sport muffler and it is loud. You should consider sound deadening if you get it.
There is only one auto handle from Toyota.
The TRD lowering springs do drop it a good amount, but I can easily tell the difference between them and some of the other springs out there. The others look better, IMO, but the TRDs still look better than stock.

the only options i got from the dealer were the foglights and the spoiler. everything else i would get aftermart and you can do the stuff your self, its not that hard. everything else i would get aftermarket, rims springs ect.

the only option i have seen for the automatic shifter is the leather TRD ****, but being japanese, the buttons are likely on the other side.
your warranty will be fine as long as your aftermarket parts are not the direct cause of the failure.

As far as power stuff, good luck. I'd personally suggest you clear out your checking account, put all the cash in a nice little pile, and throw a match on it.
Otherwise, people usually change out the intake, exhaust, and add a header. If you have the extra cash, maybe a turbo or ?
check out the "power hungry" section on the site for the usual solutions.
edit: one of the few positives about going through the dealer for aftermarket items is that they will cover it under the warranty. So [yes] you will pay through the nose, but they will stand behind the warranty, and you can roll the cost of the mods into your car loan.
