Nothing new, but im stumped. I was under the impression that the LIST price, ( the price that the scoin.com site spits out after entering all the goodies and your zip ) that this list price includes all dealer processing and handling fees. Even says so on the site. But here is where im confused, i have seen here under several different threads listed that people are paying the list price, then a processing and handling fee. Isnt that supposed to be included? All you should have to pay in addition to the list price is the tax, tag, and title fee. :?:

 

You are correct. It's a dealer scam when they add on that additional price. The price you see at scion.com is the price you should pay the dealer period! The only extra thing you need to pay is tax, title and lisence.

 

Thats what i thought, thanks kwic, im gonna have to call the dealer this week and find out exactly from him, no need to assume.

BTW, any reprocussions from Scion if i find that the dealer is charging processing twice, now that i have my rs1 ordered already?

 

just some friendly advice, you could get much more out of the situation, if you are face to face with your dealer... over the phone could lead to b.s....

 

And you should wait til your box arrives, so there is no screwing around with it. It arrives, you show up, "whoops, whats this? An educated customer? Ah damn, ok we will sell it right..."

so what you guys are saying is that the msrp on scion website is the price everyone should get. and that it has everything included in that price except for the tax,title,tag. b/c my dealer was trying to do that same exact ____er

 

That's what the price is supposed to be.

 

Lucky for me, I had a great buying experience from my dealer, Maita Toyata of Sacramento, CA. The price I paid for everything, was the same that was listed on Scion.com. I never felt any pressure to buy accessories. But, having said that, I keep reading posts from many others who are going to dealers and seeing these "processing fees," and feeling pressured to buy add ons.

By all means, if you feel like you are being "scammed," call SCION customer Support. Those guys are great, and are willing to help out. They will find a dealer in your area that has a better reputation, i.e. "gold star" rating. The SCION buying experience is testing uncharted waters with some dealerships, and there are just as many bad seeds as good, so you gotta do a little homework, before going to a dealer.

Don't pay the extra markup period. It's throwing money away.

i actually paid a little too much for my car. i already had it all picked out and everything when i got there, but i had to discuss financing and what not. after we got the paperwork finished, he told me i'm getting the car for like $15500 of something like that. i assumed that meant with my accessories (lo-jack, floormats, GAP insurance) but apparantly not. my dumbass didn't actually look at the paperwork until after i had signed the papers and walked off a happy customer. i ended up paying like $17- or so, plus interest. i was a little ____ed, but you know what? i got my box, i can afford it and the dealer was cool.

the point of all this: you probably wont be hassled to buy a bunch of stuff, but go down with a printed invoice from scion.com and tell them you want that price.

 

Actually, the reason I decided to look into outside financing is because I went to one dealer and got the "Out The Door Price". For a manual xA I was quoted $16151.23. What options? Only $120 Floor mats (I was told that Toyota said they HAD to come on every Scion sold). So I did some math:

But wait, that's like $1800 off of their "Total". What could be the difference?! OH! I know! It's the $500 Debt Cancelation fee (what the hell is that anyway?!) and the $1300 FINANCE CHARGE!!!!

Needless to say, I was a little ticked. Who charges an over 10% finance charge?! And what the hell is a Debt Cancelation fee?!


ACK! Sorry, just a little frustrated. Hopefully that will go away in a few weeks, when I finally have my xA. :D

 

That sounds like a way of saying prepaid repo service...but maybe that's just me.

 

trying to get something free from these guys is like pulling teeth too, I couldn't get them to throw in the floor matts even if I beat them down with a stick! They are tight on freebies!

 

debt cancellation should be optional. debt cancellation is like insurance in the case that you might lose your job, or become disabled where you can't work. it basically pays off your car in those emergency situations. asking the dealer or knowing about credit helps.

 

Am i understanding this, you guys are getting floors mats, at an additional charge, and Scion Dealers are telling you you HAVE to pruchase these? WTF?

 

Yea that's messed up. They should of had a choice on those considering they are scion options.
