passenger side above glove box..?
metal oval thing that says what number you are.
looks like this:

except there's your number on the bottom instead of the "Los Angeles 1/5/04"
this one doesn't have a number because it's special.. VERY special... either #1 or #2.. thinking #2.... cause i believe Scion or Toyota actually keeps #1.
the car was given out as a big prize/award thing by Gamespot.

Can't remember where, but somebody posted pics of R.S. 1.0 #2 a couple of months ago. Car's owner was on the east coast, but that's all I remember.
You should ask your regional Toyota about the badge date vs number on your car. Doesn't make sense . .

The following paragraph can be found in Announcements: History of the Scion XB , as well as other interesting little tid-bits.
"The Release Series line of Scion vehicles was a limited-release option package that began with the Scion xB RS1 in March 2004, continued with the Scion xB RS2 in March of 2005, the Scion xB RS3 in February 2006 and the most recent RS4 that is still yet to be announcd. Only 2100 RS1s, 2500 RS2s and 2200 RS3s were produced, each with a plaque mounted inside the vehicle stating the edition number. Each release got it's own exclusive special color not found on any other xB: the RS1 was dipped in Hot Lava, the RS2 was layered with Solar Yellow and the RS3 is a unique Envy Green."
If you look around Scion Life, you can find alot of information.

uhhh.. even if not.... duh.. the VIN!
worst thing is someone just painted it to look like an RS1.0 and it's really not.
also to add on the RS1.0 that's unnumbered above, it doesn't have the color-matched upholstery, too. either date or numbered... it is an RS1.0 and that badge is real. it's odd.. yes.. i know... and i couldn't believe it either.... hmm.. maybe it was the prototype? haha.. number 0!
again.. i dunno why it's not numbered. i can ask my regional rep. if you want for clarification, but yeah.. everyone else should have numbers. and i'm sure they can find out via your VIN.

i can't honestly believe they'd slap on numbered plaques on whatever cars they feel like. cars come off the line in a certain order, and probably put on the badges just as such.

I've heard the same thing from many different people that this is what they do at port and the vins and numbered badges heve no connection. I think a few have confirmed this by checking their production #'s with the badge #. (some with earlier production# have later Release#) The topic came up when during the RS2.0 release, they had a shafu at one port where they lost many of the badges and the cars were held up while waiting for replacements.
I take it you did not buy it new from the dealer. I would imagine the original owner took it off. It would be interesting to know if Toyota has a record of the RS cars.......
I now have a case manager at Scion because it was bought new. He has the vin # and is working on the problem. He's been quite nice and is working on finding out what happened and what we can do about it. Thanks for all the posts. I'll write back and let you know the results.

well anyway... here.. i found a numbered one
yeah.. the "SCION" and the date are the only things pretty much different
Well, Everyone on the scion planet has weighed in, scion and the dealership where I bought my xB. They have concluded that there is no badging for my car. I would like to know if there is anyone out there with a hot lava rs1 that has a numbered badge on it.
