Oh son of a ....![scratched bumper]
I was putting an alarm in my buddys truck last night and showing him the xA. He's increadibly interested in one for his wife now.
We must have looked at the car for 30 minutes. It has been raining a bit here so he's been pretty dirty and is in need of a wash now. As I'm getting ready to mount the siren in his truck I glance over at Steve ( our xA) and notice something is not quite right. It looks like there is a huge scratch in the front bumper.
But with the rain I think little about it. I continue doing my work and glance over again. Yeah thats a scratch. I start walking over to the car realizing that it is a scratch.
I as I get closer I realize it's not a scratch, it's a carve mark. No wait it gets better, it's a 11 inch long carve mark thats 8 inches wide.
Either my girl hit something or something hit her. As I start becoming massivly ____ed off that our now 2 week old brand new car had a 11 by 8 inch smash in the front bumper I am prompted to take a look around the rest of the car. Sure enough theres another one. This one being only about 4 inches long by 2 or 3 inches wide on the plastic piece right behind the rear door on the same side. She was over at the UofA thursday and parked in the parking garage on a slope. It appears that someone with some fairly large rims did a number on the front bumper cover and small rear filler piece behind the rear door on the pass. side. It looks like I may be able to buff out most of it as the part behind the rear door is rubber abrasion but the carve mark from the rim on the front bumper cover may require body work.
Thankfully and I don't know how but none of the steel was touched.
It's going to require a few hours of work to fix or mostly fix on my part which sucks as I am still trying to get my truck handled. I don't need to jack my insurance up putting a claim on it for about what my deductable is but this just ____ed me off. She swears she didn't do and no one left a note anywhere so it's totally on us to fix it. Sorry for the rant I had to vent.

I took my xA to get the windows tinted this Saturday and when I got it back there's a nice scratch across half of the hood and one on each side above the doors... I took it back there this morning and they said that they didn't do it but if I bring it back tomorrow they would try to rub them out for me...
On a side note, my Dad tried rubbing the hood scratch out for me and made it worse, now I've got a million tiny circular scratches highlighting the big one...

Well, busted out the 3m buffing compound last night. Got the grand majority of the damage out, with the exception of the clear coat being cracked in several places the only thing left is the nice big carve mark thats down into the plastic. It's only about 1/8 th of an inch wide but it's still about 10 inches long. Possibly some touch up paint will help. Everything else came out though.
I don't trust insurance companies anymore. I had a truck get stolen then found out it's still effecting my rates to this day. This truck was stolen about 8 years ago. I even switched insurance companies to try to not get screwed any more for it. Nope doesn't happen for me. I also ran the same stop sign twice in 4 years and got tickets twice and went to driving school twice ($160 for the classes) then my insurance went up about $200 a year... hmm I might as well have just not taken the classes and paid for the insurance diff. out of pocket. I'm currently still getting hosed on my insuance rates seeing as I'm paying $150 a month for the xA and $100 a month for my 01 s-10 and I'm married. No accidents, no traffic tickets except for the stops signs which I was told would never go on my lic, yeah the points didn't but the ticket showed up in my insurance co.'s computers. I'd be driving an 02/03 Harley F150 if the insurance wasn't $250 a month for me. I think it's time to move on from Allstate I'm not seeing the good hands....
