Default Which one is better?

Should I get a sunroof or a large flip down tv (15"-20") for the back passengers?

Definately the sunroof unless you have kids that need entertaining. Even still, they didn't have tvs in cars when I was growing up. Let them use their imagination. With a sunroof they can see the clouds, birds, planes, etc. and they can get fresh air without having a side window down.

Maybe I'm just one of those 'old farts' who grew up before kids had to have their experiences via a video screen instead of real life 24/7...

When I traveled as a kid it WAS sometimes a bit boring, but more often than not I found interesting things outside the windows as we traveled. Nowdays, kids don't even know what's around them - only what's on the screen of their Gameboy or DVD player, or whatever. Might as well just knock 'em out and wake 'em up when you get there.

Get the sunroof. Make kids (and adults) interact with each other and look out the windows. This world is actually MORE interesting than some pap from a vid screen being poured into one's brain.

Maybe they will even become involved with more than games and fiction.

Heck, watch the scenery and listen to the radio (you know, sort of like a TV with random pictures, eh?). :D

Sunroof. I never had a tv in a car when I was little. I always made up games as I was looking out the window at Cars. Actually watching cars out the window is one reason why I like them so uch.

Boo to TVs in cars!

Spend your TV money getting a nice setup at home, where you can relax and enjoy it. Audio belongs in cars, not video!

Thomas summed it up right there.

Put the remote down, interact with your surroundings, don't let the passengers just become zombies...

Most sun/moonroofs have warranty.

I have also heard of they have tendencies to leak. But from what I have heard from people here on the forums that they havent had any problems with them leaking.

TV. You can take it with you when you sell the car if you want and it doesn't involve sawing holes in the roof and lowering the value of you car (aftermarket sunroofs OFTEN leak over TIME and actually lower resale value-- bad idea!)

TV also has a lot more entertainment value than a sunroof. ;)

Put the money towards the loan on the car. That way you can own it sooner... After awile the cops are going to find a way to "crack down" on people with tvs in their cars. The manufactures will get sued and stop putting them in minivans. Everone's aftermarket sunroof will leak.

But at least your car will be paid for....
