Maybe I am being too picky, but the OS handles (handles above each door on the interior) feel a little cheap. Are there any nicer ones, some with some weight and possibly spring loaded movement?

 

I'm thinking of making some out of wood. Black Cherry wood ;-)

 

That would be sweet, but I think it would look weird. I have access to some CNC mills at work, but it would take a while to get four of them through. I would like to see some out of aluminum.

 

You can always do this:

 

eh.. theyre strong enough for what they are made for. but you could easily make them out of wood and then finish them up really nice.

 

I'd prefer there were no handles at all.

 

You'll eventually need to use those handles for something.

If you go on Toyota's website, and search under planet Kaisen - you will find that Toyota is actually proud of the fact that thier new OS handles are composed of only 4 parts verses something like 34 parts. "saving the consumer money"...

 

4 parts of crap though. I just wish they were finished not ribbed for our holding pleasure on the inside.

 

I'd love to do it, and I know our machinists and designers could do a great job, but the time to make one, let alone four could be a little while.

I just want one that feels solid not cheap.

 

how about you fill the inside that way it's "finished" bondo and paint can be your best of friends

No need to, I just ran the wires next to the bolts that keep the handles on.

 

And from there, where did you go? So are the wires visible?

Clear would be nice, never thought of doing that. I may look into making some.

 

No, the wires go down behind the headliner just a bit and then down the pillar behind the molding. If you can see the wires, you did it wrong.
